Ah ok.
But what I'm doing couldn't really be described as "loading down" as I only have one dialogue open at a time and in case of the control dialogue the system is also disabled (bottom left button).
I'll keep an eye on it and report back as it seems to work half decent for now.

cheers!

Its on auto, I'm going to set it to enabled permanently.
I also dialed back the overclock which seems to have helped. I got one or two crashes and then it worked for like an hour or so.
I guess I have to get a more powerful machine. I had this one laying around so I used it.
Maybe one of those old AMD 8-Cores will do the trick, they're getting pretty cheap by now.

Anyway, thanks so far!

Hello there, first post here as I'm fairly new to the CNC world.
Currently setting up a small router (R-CNC from makerfr.com) with a freshly installed Win7 Home Premium SP1 x86 machine. Its got a Pentium 4 3.00 HT (3.3GHz overclock) and 2Gigs of RAM. I'm using a PMDX-416 external motion controller with the corresponding plugin and thats all working fine.

Using the demo version to test the setup.
When playing around with the steps per unit -wizard and the Mach4 control dialogue I noticed it crashes after switching dialogues a few times. And it seems to be random. At one time I could use it for like 10min switching between the wizard, the MDI and the Motor control dialogue and another time it crashed on the first try.

What I mean by crashing is that the new window doesn't open, but is visible in the taskbar. I can close it from there and re-open the wizard but its the same.
When it crashes in the control dialogue it seems to be held up during the screen refresh that it does every time it opens a dialogue and everything just freezes, I have to kill the process.
Upon next startup 90% of the time it probably works. But after opening and closing dialogues a few times it crashes again.

Any hints what to look out for? Going to try it without the overclock, I tested it with prime 95 but you never know.

Greetings from zhe Germany!
