General Mach Discussion / Re: Home slave with Master + Gantry squaring
« on: November 13, 2018, 06:08:49 AM »
Its possible...

I already upgraded it to two switches and it works great "out of the box" :)

I figured out the Pins too, it just needs separate inputs for the two limit switches. It can have more axis on one input.

wmgeorge: for me the X axis is like the machine is orientated towards me. Like a coordinate system, up-down is X, left-right is Y.

General Mach Discussion / Home slave with Master + Gantry squaring
« on: November 07, 2018, 01:17:01 AM »
Hello, im Rok from Slovenia and new to CNC and Mach3 but learinig a lot along the way (getting expensive  ;D ).

Im building a "classic" gantry CNC router that will be mainly used for cutting aluminium. The CNC has two 20 mm ballscrews on X axis (Slaved A axis).
Im using UC400ETH motion controller, KK01 breakout board, 4x CW5045 drivers and NEMA 23 motors. Im using Mach3 on Windows 10.

The first problem:

If i jog the machine it works great. If i "REF ALL HOME" it only moves one of the X axis (it doesn't home the slave A axis). it does move the Y and Z to this is not the problem. The Home Slave with Master Axis is checked under General config.
Any ideas?

Second "problem" - more of a question:

For testing im just using normal NC micro switches on the 3 axis connected in series. I am planning to have 3 main switches on the three axis and add one more on separate Pin to square up the gantry. So can i just add one switch or does the BOB or Mach3 need separate Pin for X and A (slave) axis homing plus extra Pin for the two remaining (Y and Z) axis?

I will be upgrading the machine to inductive proximity switches all round and will have limit switches on both sides of all the Axis for safety purposes.

Thanks for the help, Rok.
