ok had a look to the leadshine Manual.

you have to make a Bridge from the +12V out terminal to the OPTO2 teminal

and then you can use GND and Input3/4.

this makes sense, I think- thank you!

did that first thing- nothing. contacted Leadshine, they sent this diagram, which I'm trying to decipher...

Looking at the right side, I believe they're instructing me to jumper 12vdc to Opto1, then wire 12vdc, opto1, and input 1 to the touch plate, and ground to the the router/bit.

I have no idea what's going on in the left diagram.

this is the note from Leadshine-
Hi Marty,
According to your description, the setting is correct in mach3 system that input3 is configured to pin12 and input4 is configured to pin13 of DB25 connector.

However, there would be something wrong with your touch plate connection or signal transmission, usually low level effective for input signal and you can also reverse its level in mach3 system.

Here i show you a simple drawing in attachment for your reference, please check and correct.

Thank you for supporting Leadshine products!

Best regards.

Tomorrow, I'll try it per the right side of the diagram- if I'm screwing up, please steer me in the right direction!

thanks for the input.

FAQs / touch plate guru brew plan- not getting mx4660 to cooperate

4x4 router, mach 3, mx4660. followed guru brew's setup on youtube. not getting any power when touching plate to ground, digitize light in diagnostics not lighting. set to probe, pin 13 (wired to input 4 in 4660), grounded to 4660. used script from guru brew.
router still works, x/y/z are fine.
also tried pin 12 to input 3.
I've walked through it several times, but it feels like I'm missing something simple...
thanks for any feedback.
