enabling the charge pump did the trick!!!
thank you so much! now on to hooking up the other motors.

yea I'm pretty sure they are 24vdc but they shouldn't need much torque as they are on a little baby mill. They were stock from the company Denford that sold the mill.

FAQs / Mach 3 stepper control issues
« on: June 26, 2017, 03:30:38 AM »
Hello,

I am setting up a CNC control setup for a denford branded sherline mill. I am  unable to get the steppers to move with Mach 3.

Here is my setup:

PC-to-route m2 BOB board:

And gecko 201 stepper drivers

http://www.geckodrive.com/gecko/images/cms_files/G201%20REV-16%20MANUAL.pdf

I am using 2Amp 24v stepper motors made by Sanyo Denki

I am running Windows xp on a Sony vaio desktop with parallel port.

So far I have confirmed that my bob is talking to Mach 3 by triggering limit switch inputs but am unable to get it to move the steppers.

As far as I can tell my wiring is correct based upon those data-sheets and the steppers are powered as they have holding torque when the drivers are on.

Thank you for any help!

Here are some photos of the setup:
