General Mach Discussion / Re: Slow zone switches
« on: April 13, 2017, 03:42:10 AM »
I know "soft" slow zones can be set but if for some reason the machine looses its home coordinates there's a good chance the slow zone may not take affect at the correct position and if traveling at high speeds it could cause damage to other switches etc.

"Hard" soft zones would remove this risk.

Im looking for a simple way to trigger slow speed while an input is active,

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / Slow zone switches

Hey,

Hopefully I'm posting this in the correct forum!?

I was wondering if anyone has ever used a second set of input switches possitioned say 100mm before their home switches to allow each axis to ref all home at speed then slow down as they trigger. Obviously the "slow zone" switches would have to be triggered in a way that the axis can roll over them and travel past (a cam like situation)

The reason I ask is that my longest axis is nearly 3m long and I have to set my homing speed fairly slow so not to destroy my home switches at the end. If I could place these slow zone triggers I could ref home rapidly no matter what and it would slow down when it got close.

I know I could technically make all my home switches rollover type to stop them being destroyed but my deceleration rate would mean I'd end up over running quite a bit at high speeds

Thanks in advance
