Galil / Re: Question about Galil and Mach3 interaction

Hi Allen,

Let me first say that this forum is DEAD. You will see the author of the plugin Steve (smurf) and Kenny (kcrouch) are not responding to any question anymore here. The only help you will find is via older discussions or through the few users that are willing to answer question.

Here is what I've found:

The galil plugin has nothing to do with the PID tuning. The tuning is 100% within the galil software itself (not the plugin). Then if your system is tuned well it will stay tuned well with the plugin.

Theoretically yes since Kenny wrote many years ago in an older thread that the code was available for anyone who ask for it. The problem is how to contact Kenny???

No clue about the feed hold, sorry about this one.  ???

Bumping this up as it is really bugging me...

Anyone know what this is for  ???  ???  ???

I'm not sure why you want the jog display to show up since OEM command will work even if the screen is not visible but to expand on what ger21 wrote, the "jog tab (display)" is in fact the screen #50.
You can then send an OEM Button 323 to toggle the visibility on the Jog screen

See there: http://www.machsupport.com/Mach3Wiki/index.php?title=OEM_Buttons

Also, IMHO the easiest way to send a "TAB" keystroke is certainly to use a Pokey...

Im dealing right now with trying to get my last drive, a Mitsu MR-J3-20A to talk to the 1900. No matter what mode the drive is in, i cant get it to do anything. I can move the motor by hand and the DRO updates, but thats it. about to throw this Mitsu crap away and get another aries drive....

Again, best way is always to isolate the part you're working on. First test the drive alone with the servo motor, maybe with its software if there's one. If the drive can run the motor this way THEN connect to the Galil board. Also, the Ultra300 drives from Allen Bradley are working very well with many brands of servo motor. I've used them with some Tamagawa servo motor. Both are often found dirt cheap on e-Bay. (400W combo for less than $100 !!!)

I'm not familiar with Mitsubishi drive but the typical, drive enable input ant other similar should be checked first, but you certainly know that by now.

Good luck!

Yep, not the first one for sure  :-[

Btw, Pokeys (57U/57E) are great for that kind of thing if you ever run out of inputs/outputs.

Can't see your pic but will try my best to help:

- There's no jumper for the non isolated output. (Those a TTL).
- I strongly suggest that you first try turning the output on/off with the Galil software, either with the graphic interface (I use Galil tools) or with the  SB, CB, OB and OP command. This way you will bypass Mach3 which will make it easier to debug your setup.
- If this doesn't work there may be something wrong with your controller card.
- In mach3 make sure you've set the "output Signal" tab in "Ports and Pins". Port should be set to #1.

I think you're using the wrong compare 'function'.

-If you want to pass the value of a single switch directly you simply use 'no operation' instead of 'compare'. (Or no operation -> invert)

-If you want to 'compare' two inputs then you use one line per input. On each line you add 'no operation' right after your 'input' (same as above). DO NOT TERMINATE ANY LINE. The 'trick' is that you then select (click) both 'no operation' boxes  (both will be green) and then hit the '+' button.  TaDa!!! You will then see a popup where you can choose 'compare a b' or use boolean logic (and, or ,eor...)

Galil / "Use Master Command Pos" ???
« on: August 06, 2017, 04:15:44 PM »
On the "Axis setup" tab of the galil plugin for Mach3 there's some checkbox for each axis labeled "Use Master Command Pos". Those are not shown in the galil plugin manual (page 10) and I've searched everywhere but cannot find any info about this feature.

Well, my system is in fact working fine without that but I'm really curious about what those checkbox are doing. Anyone knows what this is for  ???
