In my opipion you need to use a Cad program, like Autocad or my favourite Vectric, I tried Artcam but it was not for me, if you can swing the dollars get Vectric Aspire its the goto program for CNC users

I have never used the program you used so I cannot say, I only use Mach 3 for sending Gcode. (Cam)

As far as i know Mach3 and the Adruino UNO/CNC shield combo will not work together.

There is a Mach3 board that uses a USB port, look on Alibaba.com

I have my xbox controller fitted but its been a while, one thing I remember is the controller joysticks are (is the word progressive?) like the further you push them the faster they jog,

I was just out in the garage and checked apparently I have the same problem lol and I didnt know it. though I hardly ever need to small jog as I use an automatic corner finder with a z height adjuster.

Check CNCnutz on YouTube he has a video on how he setup a pendant to jog that might help

I am using an old Makita router I bought from Ebay, I only use it for carving wood etc, I fitted a cheap chinese speed controller and it worked fine, I have it constantly set from 23,000 rpm to 12-15000 and it works just fine.

I noticed that superPid had a 30% sale in October so I bought one, its very cold here in Norway so going into my garage to fit it is yet an option.

SuperPid have a feed back system that keeps the torque constant (ish)

General Mach Discussion / tool database
« on: December 18, 2016, 07:22:55 AM »
I havent done any research and I may be asking something that everyone knows (but me)

is there a way to import from say Vectric tool database to Mach3 tool database, say for example a wizard or something?

I know I can do it by hand but my programs are in two different places

you have to set the correct code to start the spindle i think its m6 or press the start button with your mouse in Mach 3 or even an on/off switch on the spindle.

which program do you do the toolpaths in? i think this is called a Cad/Cam program
