General Mach Discussion / Threading trouble
« on: September 13, 2010, 06:53:34 PM »
Hi
I am running Mach 2.63 lathe.
I have been usingit for over a year plus...before that I ran Turbo
about  4 months ago I was running about 20 parts with threads
At about # 18 the threading goes 'mad' and crashes...tool bit digs in hard and heads for the chuck all out...
Did not think much of it that day....but spoke to a good friend who says "there is a problem with threading"
Up to that point i did several 50 plus lots of m9-1,25 with no problems...

Today I am running a program to thread 12 pcs 1/2-13 nc
I run off 9 with no problems....watched it like a hawk....LoL
Put in # 10 and walked over to the Colchester to shoulder some blanks...
and Shiq it happens again...tool bit digs in hard and heads for the chuck...
All else is find...turned 40 blanks to o.455" earlier and all were +0.000, -0.0005".
Any suggestions....hair is just about pulled out

General Mach Discussion / Re: Upgrade Failed
« on: November 23, 2009, 03:52:05 PM »
Hi
Just to update:
The system worked great all day.
made many parts on the lathe... Thanks to the older version R2.63

Just to note that while I had the latest version on
I did change the debounce value to 1 while I was trying to get it to work.
It made no difference.
And the "Start from here" command did not work as well
It would just rewind the program to the beginning.
And it took several tries to get it to find the printer port....

Hi
I just went through the same thing exactly
I had a hard drive crash last Tuesday.
Had a spare system and saw that there was a newer version of mach3
so I downloaded it.
Just about pulled all my hair out. First I could not get it to
run the printer port.LPT1
Then when I did get it to run the following happened:
1) My indexer would only work at 100 or less. It work fine for years before the crash.
ie I could not thread.
2) The spindle speed would not display on the screen, no matter the speed.
3) When I tried to run a program, the 'start from here' button would not
work. Program would rewind and start from the beginning.
Worked at this for most of last week on/off thinking I had a computer problem.Even went and got another to try.
Today I went back to R2.63 and in 15 minutes all was working again
Made some parts just to be sure.

General Mach Discussion / OD Arc Wizard
« on: May 25, 2008, 08:23:38 PM »
Hi
Just running mach 3 on the lathe
Up graded to the latest V as I was having problems with taper threads.
The threads are now working fine, but when I use a wizard that has
any arcs(OD Arc Wizard: ie g03 or go2) the program is cuting a full
circles.
I was trying to put a radius on the end of a 0.525" shaft and
the program keeps trying to cut a full circle.
Several inserts down :(
any help!

General Mach Discussion / taper threading
« on: May 24, 2008, 06:01:47 PM »
Hi
I tried some taper threading today
I was making a 1.5"-11.5 pipe thread (od)
I used the threading wizard (complex) to write the program
The taper angle was 1' 47" or 1.78'
The program would not run, saying something about an integer in the threading line of
code. ( T1.78)
So I put in a whole number for T ( T2) and the program ran and cut a taper thread, but at 2'
instead of 1.78'
Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong
take care

General Mach Discussion / Re: index plans
« on: May 14, 2008, 04:42:49 PM »
Hi
Thanks Hood
I got my original indexer working
Seems there was nothing wrong with it, just that I
did not specifiy the right port
I just had to put in the number 1 instead of zero
(one of those days)
I down loaded your replay and printed it off for future reference
thanks

ps Are u the "hood" who I sent info to on the Tos lathe ?
