Hello Everyone, I've been using Mach3 on my CNC 6040 for 7+ years now, not a single problem came until this morning, I actually ran a cut 2 times last night with no problems, i left a new sheet on the CNC ready to run the same program/cut this morning, when i opened the GCode on Mach 3 the Job Display Screen appeared with lots of circles (see image).

Then i tried to move the machine pressing the keyboard arrows and there was no movement, not even X,Y and Z movements on the Mach3, it stayed in the initial position both physically and in Mach3.

I tried with the TAB Button Jog and the same results.

The emergency button is not pressed, the Reset button in Mach3 is not activated either, the Jog ON/OFF button is on green.

If I press the Goto Z button it stays there in those coordinates (see pictures), which BTW are the coordinates it now boots Mach3 with, it usually is  0,0,0.

I closed the File and try to move with No File Loaded and same result (last image).

Not sure what the issue is, and i would like to check if someone has ran into this problem before i uninstall and reinstall the software.

Is my subscription expired probably?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Ger

I am working on a 2D drawing which I vectorized in ilustrator.

I basically found the drawing with Google images and trace the vectors with Illustrator.

attached is the drawing.

Hello There

i have finally moved  from cutting letters, i am now cutting new things, like crosses and religious figures, logos etc.. unfortunately i have to download these from the internet and trace them in Illustrator, which is not too bad but what bothers me a lot is that with this type of designs CAMBAM takes too long to create  the toolpaths and generate the Gcodes, sometimes even hours.

Why is that? is there a way to reduce that amount of time, i remember Lazycam taking a while but not too long as CAMBAM, is there another software that might take shorter time?

thanks

appreciate the advice.

i do want to make 3D in the future, i already made some wooden gears for a customer, he wanted to put them on his desk, they look neat and are somehow functional.

i will try CamBam, can i make 3D Gcodes with it?

cheers

Hello Rich

thanks for replying back so quickly.

I was afraid that was going to be the case with LazyCam, at the end of the day it is a Beta version.

I did read the whole manual while my CNC was arriving, and i really dont want to mess up with LazyCam utilizing it as a CAD, it must be painfull.

now, what do you recomend i do?, what program did you use to create the 12DXF? is it possible that i will have better luck creating the dxf file with CorelDraw?

regarding your question i want to cut the offset outside, i am already pretty good at that i learned how and practiced on Saturday  ;)

hello i have made cnc machine and got it all hooked up and did what video is telling me what to do and cant get the machine to run the motors any help

Hello, can you share a more detailed description of your problem, i had a similar problem when i finished assembling my machine man, it didnt start, it turned out to be the paralel port adress, Mach3 has 2 predetermined paralel port names, I had to find out what the name of my paralel port was and type it in manually in Mach3. You can check that in Config-Ports and Pins- Port#1

let me know if that helps

Hello there,

Any help on this issue would be greatly apreciated,

I need to create a GCode to cut a letter G in my CNC, I create the outline of the letter in Illustrator with no problems, I export  it to a dxf file then open it in LazyCam and thats where the problem happens, some sections get cut off, lazy cam opens the file but some anchor points are not consider for the outline.
I have attached a picture  and the dxf file, hopefully someone can help me.

a way to resolve this problem is to reduce the amount of anchor points in Illustrator, but this creates  another problem, the arc rather than being perfectly round they are a conjuction of straight lines making the curve, and i looks awfull when i cut it.

so any help would be greatly apreciated.

thanks

Hello everyone, just introducing myself, i am new to lazycam and Mach 3, i got myself one of those Chinese CNC mills (6040), i am pretty happy with it, i practiced a lot of CADCAM in school, but since i started working i never got a chance to do it any more, so this CNC is my opportunity to do again something i really enjoyed.
I got a problem with Lazycam right now, i want to cut the outline  of a letter G, i create the vector in illustrator, export it as dxf, but when i open it in LazyCam some lines take shortcuts and skip one or 2 anchor points.
I dont know how to load an image here, let me keep trying.
