Yeah, I thought I responded to this one a while ago (yesterday?)

Rob
You did in fact...This was your post:

The ESS does support m10/m11...

You need to know what the programmed output number is for your current m07

Then go into the ESS config page and programme in the output number for m10/m11

Strange.. a "Rob" and another fellow responded to my post in less than an hour. For what ever reason there answers/posts seem to have been deleted.

Anyhow, thanks to them I'm laser burning with near instant M11 commands.

General Mach Discussion / Mapping the path for M11 / M10 commands
« on: November 16, 2015, 03:06:11 PM »
OK this is one of those " should be simple" but for I have not figured out how to get the M11 command to work triggering a laser diode.

I do have it working with the M07 and M09 commands for the flood control. but flood control has enough delay to notice a deeper burn from the delay.

I also have the latest version of MACH3 that has the M11/M10 laser support.

I'm just doing simple on/off. The signal is connected to pin 17 of a break out board. The BOB is connected to PORT 3 of a smooth stepper. In the MACH3 plugin control I have port 3 enabled as an output.

Question one on the M command. As I understand it, in the G code the command has to look more like this: M11P1    So the "P" is that for a pin out, as in pin 17 from the BOB. So in my case it should read as M11P17 ? Or do they mean OUTPUT#1 ? from the ports and pins set up?

SmoothStepper USB / Re: Run 2 machines, one ess and one printer port?

Thanks!  Saw that in the menu but was not sure if that was the right button.

SmoothStepper USB / Run 2 machines, one ess and one printer port?
« on: August 19, 2015, 12:59:38 PM »
My first cnc machine runs with ess. Am looking at a second one but it requires running from the printer port. When I make a new profile for the second machine will I get an option to select the printer port during set up? Reason I ask is I remember selecting the "don't ask me this again" for this:

Does it apply only to that machine profile? or for Mach3 in general? If so how to I un select it so I get that pop up again?

Thanks for the reply. Helps knowing that kind of insight.

I'm looking at getting a CNC parts router kit and they support running the machine from Mach3. So I'm going to buy a dedicated PC to run the router table. Found a machine local, it is XP with SP1 to 3 installed. If it is not going to be connected to the net so what ever " bloat" in the service packs should not be an issue?

The PC in general exceeds the min requirements P-4 @ 3.4 Ghz, 1 Gig ram and an off board Radeon x300 graphics card with 128 Megs of ram and twin monitor support. Anyhow one question is about the ram, I know from video editing software that just meeting the min requirements comes at a performance price. Would more ram be helpful or useless to Mach 3?

General Mach Discussion / limitations on trial version?
« on: January 29, 2015, 05:44:08 PM »
Hello,
Planning to build a Rockcliff design CNC router. A trial download of Mach3 came with the plans. Trial versions always have some kind of limits to them. Can anyone tell me if it it time limited or the type of work that you can do is restricted? My test projects are in the line of 7" by 18" max.
Are there graphics cards that are more ideal for mach 3 other than the required 1/2 gig of ram?
