I have a 1/2" rod and I want to to make a 2" long taper from 10mm down to 1mm .SHould I Machine the 1/2" rod  down to the .393" ?  . What angle would I need to use for that? I keep putting 10 as an angle for 10 degrees? Though I am only getting about a 1" taper and  It asks for where to start and End Z and I put Start at 0 and end at 2"  For the X start I put .393" or 10mm and end at .05 or 1mm.. It is not coming out correctly.. Can anyone help me with the correct angle and X and Z values? . I end up only getting a 1" long Taper ?

YES! Thank you so Much! That fixed the problem. There was some kind of glitch that happened and I reversed back 20 runs and it brought it right back to when the program ran fine with no issues!! Thank you very much!

I have the parabola wizard program stop machining my parts correctly? It was working fine yesterday morning using one of my programmed wizard files and then suddenly stopped machining my part correctly after 2 years. My other wizard programs work/machine my part perfectly, so I know its not an issue with the motors or machine. Does a wizard suddenly stop working correctly for some reason? I have been thinking of uninstalling the wizard and re installing the wizard, but am wondering if anyone else has had this issue and knows how to fix it?

yes, thanks.  I test on graphite rod , so its nice n soft. I did one test run , but it was trying to make the arc in the wrong direction away from the stock. I'm going to test tonight as tomorrow I have a few days sales trip. lol always when you are trying to learn something new..

Thank you for the help Rich. Now when I put X start .625 to X end .525.. Should I factor in the radius aspect? To clarify, .625 - .525 = .100 , which is the depth that I want to go to. SHould I divide the .100 in half = .050 and add that onto the .525 = .575 so that it does not cut to deep, or does that not matter in this case? When I do a turn wizard, I have to follow this principle.

I am trying to put 4 arcs on my piece of 1" x .625" OD brass round. I have no idea how to use this wizard. Does anyone know how?

General Mach Discussion / Question on OD Arc 3 In turn wizards

I am trying to make a few OD Arcs on a .625 " brass round that is 1" long. I am trying to get 4 OD arcs going down the length. Though , when I try to use this wizard, It is not allowing me to put more than 1 arc and I cannot seem how to figure out the parameters as the Z start and Z end are not working? Can anyone help me in regards to how to do this. I want to have the Z start at depth of .525 and then start from the end and have them evenly spaced about .125" apart   .. I know when I use the groove wizard , I can make multiple grooves. I might just do this down the shaft, but I was hoping to have arc spaces ..? Any help is very much appreciated.

Thank you Rich. I am going to try it out tomorrow. I got the OD ARC down! Thanks for the input.  Can you confirm something for me. So what I gather is if your just using the master tool , PART/PROGRAM X&Z is always set ZERO right in the middle of the very end of the stock?

Good to know about the small point tool. I think I can grind that out using my HSS blanks.  On the OD ARC TURNING Wizard. Is there a way to make the end of the sphere more of an OVAL end shape, or is that wizard strictly for a ROUND radius end?
