General Mach Discussion / Re: setting up spindle speeds on stepper plasma
« on: October 24, 2014, 11:41:39 AM »
Ok so where I'm at now is I'm using sheetcam gave up on the mastercam idea as a post was going to cost more than sheetcam
What does mach3 offer over the free version in the full version ?

Yes you're right its a 2000 microstep  driver but the math still didn't correlate as rack has 6.6 teeth per inch and pinion 18 teeth .
Yet to get right travels had to set the steps per unit at 2830 on both X and Y not sure why ?

General Mach Discussion / setting up spindle speeds on stepper plasma
« on: October 22, 2014, 10:51:02 PM »
I'm doing a configuration and need some help  I'm not fully sure if my motors are 200 steps per revolution
they are from anaheim automation 60hs100de1b lets assume they are for a moment .
I know that the approx travel per one full revolution on the plasma table is 2.75"
and doing the math works out to 72.72 per one inch of travel
what numbers do I enter in the mach 3 motor turning setup
it's just a small two axis plasma cutter .
any specific links to setting this up would be nice
the travels are off quite a bit when just hitting the jog x and y axis
I played with the step number and 2400 gets it fairly close
and I set my default config to inch .
Help appreciated thanks .

General Mach Discussion / Mcam post plasma 9.1 help pls
« on: October 21, 2014, 09:33:26 PM »
It would be easy enough to use the Mpfan program if in the canned text there was an M3 on Mill 9 but there isn't
I need to turn torch on and off with using z axis moves There is an M5 and that works but no M3 offered
I have no idea how to edit the post unless someone can offer a post .
I'm going to use my mcam 9.1 to run a small plasma table mainly just because I'm used
to using master cam and the table needs Mach 3 to run .
I don't mind doing a small edit to the nci file but not every z- move
I do have it working but it was a pain in the butt to do every part .
So can anyone help pls pls thanks .
Just to sum it up I can make a file on Mc9.1 mill and using the mpfan post
and other than turning torch on and off and having a dwell it works
the plasma I have doesn't have Z moves its a small 2x2 table .
Uses hypertherm torch . M3 turns torch on M5 turns it off .
In the tool path there is a canned text and you can add an M5 for
positive Z axis move but doesn't offer the same for M3 on a - Z axis move .
Nor is there a setting to set dwell .
