General Mach Discussion / Re: Problem zeroing all axis.
« on: October 29, 2014, 08:29:22 PM »
Thanks, after adding an XHC pendant it looks like it allowed me to crash the machine into the optical limit switch, making it active at all times, not sure why anything worked.

I finally had time to repair it today and added a positive mechanical stop to keep it from crashing again.

Any help getting them to work or should I just ditch the pendant?

Sorry for the beginner questions but thanks for your time.

This should be an easyone for someone that knows what they are doing.  Everything was working fine and now my Y will not home and I don't know what I did.  Maybe I just need som sleep.

In any case there is an indicator (red/green) next to each zero "button" and it looks like I have it turned off some how.  What is the fix?

Thanks.

General Mach Discussion / Mastercam post processor for mach3
« on: October 04, 2014, 03:58:00 PM »
I am running Mastercam 9.0  and using the MPFAN.pst the table display in mach3 looks correct but the program does not run.

Same program posted using MasterCam_MACH3B.pst the table display is nothing like the subject drafted in Mastercam.  I also tried one other .pst _MACH3LA.pst and it only generates 3 lines of code.

What are others using with success or can you think of something I am doing wrong?

Uninstalled it and reinstalled, it works now.

Thanks.

These are the regular ones that were created by different individuals.

The way it looks to me is that the license was to ACT (folks that made the mill in question) not the business where it came from.

On a fresh install, do you just uninstall and reinstall or are there other things that need to be done?

You can change the values in the wizards and even save them so they are there next time you open it, they just won't post any code.

Not a huge deal because I do have it working on one computer, too bad it doesn't have a paralell port or I would just use it.

I had a friend that had an ACT DMC III that his work was going to get rid of so he called me up.  The machine was going to come minus the computer but with the software (mach3).

So I did some reading and setup a computer with the 32 bit version of windows XP and downloaded the demo version of Mach 3, to see what I can learn before I have the machine.

A week goes by and The machine is connected to the computer I had set up and he downloads the files that he has to the computer.  Where it had read "demo" it now reads the name of the machine builder.  At this point it seems something's are not working as they should but I chalk it up to not knowing what I am doing.

Yesterday my 2 yr old is sick so I am inside with her and decide to put MACH3 on my laptop (hope that is ok) to see if I can create a few programs to try out in the shop during nap time.  I use the files he had brought that already had the license.dat file.

Everything works fine on the laptop, it's pretty simple with the wizards functioning and the programs run on the machine computer fine.

Now how do I get the machine computer to let the wizards work?  You can adjust settings and even save them inside the wizards just can't post the Gcode.  Do I need to uninstall everything and try again, or is there yet one other thing I am missing?

Again, thanks for the help.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Changing the units of the "DRO"
« on: April 05, 2014, 03:55:21 PM »
That is it, in my messing around I had changed the native units and that is why I was getting the 648.xx number.

Put it back where I started and it's working now.

Not sure what I was doing wrong from the beginning but thanks for the help.

Lock DRO's to setup units checked.

If I jog 1 inch (G21) the DRO is ~25.4, same thing with (G20)

If I unlock them and jog the inch (G21) the DRO is ~648.8 but switches to 25. with G20 entered in MDI.
