General Mach Discussion / Mach3 and Spindle Problem
« on: May 15, 2021, 10:18:33 AM »
Hi
   Mack3 and Spindle Problem.

I am not sure if this is the right place for my problem but I have no idea where
else to try.
I have a 3040 s Chinese Router and Milling machine purchased in 2011 it works all right except that the original spindle motor is faulty and needs replacement. I have not been able to find a replacement after many hours of searching the Internet.
The original motor was 200w Dc with an external diameter of 57mm No other markings.

My question is can I fit a 300w, 400w or 500w motor and will it work safely using my
Existing Mach 3 software?
My Mach3 software runs the machine through a 3 Axis Mini-CNC Controller purchased with the 3040 some 10 years ago. Is it safe to increase the watt rating of the spindle motor without any problems?
Many thanks for any help.

Roy

Hi thanks for the answer. Can you advise what Model Motion Controller I should fit?
My current computer is a Windows 10 Home M/c  Version 20 M2. Can I use other
software on this machine or does Mach 3 need to be run on a dedicated computer?

General Mach Discussion / Mach 3 no communication with CNC machine
« on: March 19, 2021, 01:23:32 PM »
Hi All
I have the following problem can anyone Help?
My old computer was working ok with Windows XP but after a crash it is now U.S.
My new computer has Mach 3 installed but it will not drive the cnc controller. I
had an engineer fit a Parrallel card to run the cnc but it will not work. Is it due
to the 64 bit opperating system on the new machine? If that is so will the machine
work if i fit a parralell/usb converter lead?
As you have probably guessed I am a bit confused with this problem. Any help in
pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated?
Best Regards

FAQs / How can i cut 2mm Styrene sheet correctly and at what speed?
« on: May 15, 2020, 12:27:50 PM »
Hi
I have a 2030 machine ( A cheap one from China) and I am having difficulty with the speeds and feeds for cutting 0.5mm to 2mm Styrene Sheet. Whatever speed and feed rate I use the styrene is melting and clogging the cutter.  Is there a list somewhere to give me speeds and feeds for various materials.
The only other material I use at the moment is thin plywood 0.5mm to 3mm and there I have no problems at all.
Many thanks for any advice

Hi Kolias,
I purchased my new computer and had Windows 7 put on it as I anticipated a problem,
what I did not expect was that the parallel port would not work on a 64 bit OS.
I can not see a way out of this as all new computers are 64 bit as I understand it.

Hi,
I had the very same problem when my 3040 was new. After weeks of trying to sort it out we found
a damaged wire to the motor making the noise which made it loose signals. The wire had a small cut in
the insulation which opened and closed as the machine moved and the wire rolled up  therefore
interupting the signal.
I advise check and replace (if required) any suspect wiring.

Hi Hood,
You have identified the problem for me. I purchased a new computer system which is a
64 bit machine, this is therefore a big problem which i was unaware of.  Is there any way i can
use the parallel port on this machine? Or is there any work around to solve this?

Roy
