Ok. I uninstalled Mach3. Then reinstalled it. I copied my xml to the folder. Now I open the profile and the motor window opens. Funny thing is the y axis was moving 1/2 of what it should. The reason I tried to open the motor tune window in the first place with the old install. All axis were set to 2000 steps like they should be. I changed the y to 1000 saved it and then changed it back to 2000, now everything is good. That was weird. Any thoughts on what caused it?

I got a new cpu installed in the mill and did a new install of Mach3 R3.043.062 and everything seemed to be ok. I found my old profile and got it loaded. But the motor tuning window won’t open. I shut down Mach a couple times and restarted the cpu. Still won’t open. Do I need to uninstall and reinstall Mach3? Am I missing something?

I just downloaded Mach4 on my laptop to run as a simulation device. I am trying to see it I am ready to move up from Mach 3 and want to run a couple parts thru it. When I go to load g-code only the demo files are there like roadrunner. I took one of my text files from Mach 3 and copied it and pasted in mdi mode and it runs. Went to edit g code and pasted it there and saved it but I still can’t find it when I go to load code. I can find it when I go to edit code. Is this something because it is a demo mode of Mach 4 and when I buy a license it will work or an install error.

I probably should order a few umbrellas!  I have 3 cnc machines. 1 lathe running Mach3, I mill on Mach3, and another mill still on hurco bx control. Both Mach units have dedicated PCs in each control panel. Lathe on win xp, parallel port and steppers. It needs spindle bearing. It’s been down 2 years so I don’t know it that pc is ok. The first mill has the pc I originally posted about. Running win7 ess, and servos.  Both those are in the shop and don’t ever see the internet. The only other pc I have is this laptop that I write cnc programs on the move them to the machines via a usb drive. The plan is to up grade the mill to Mach4 and maybe the lathe after repair and replacing the steppers with servos and adding a motion controller. Hence my original question, what are the thoughts behind getting a new laptop and using it for both writing programs and running the machines. It would never be used for anything else other than maybe the servo tuning software or the plc software and wouldn’t be connected to the internet while running cnc and only Mach4 not 3. Or am I creating an eggs in one basket scenario?  Can I get away only buying one Mach4 license that way and create different profiles? Or can I use a Mach4 license on 2 PCs and demo mode on the programing pc like I do now with Mach3?

Wow this is frustrating. Now my laptop is acting up. This is what I write Mach3 code on and program plcs with. Running Windows 7 pro. I ran Windows security and found a Trojan. It supposedly fixed that but now if I connect to the internet any page redirects to webhostisd.com or something like that. I don’t use a computer often as I use my iPhone for day to day stuff. I haven’t even turned it on on about 3 months. The internet at the house is iffy and generally I turn the WiFi off on my phone since cellular data is faster and I have unlimited. I’m about to the point I want to sell the cnc mill and lathe and just get manual machines again. When it rains it pours.

Yes $39-$149 depending on the amount. I should be in the lower amount. I did have them put a solid state drive in the new one. Hopefully that eliminates one potential problem. 4000 lb mill but I’m sure there is still some vibration. Enclosure is filtered and I’ll probably add another fan to help with heat.
