General Mach Discussion / System working in a 3d printing mode
« on: July 10, 2014, 12:14:00 PM »
In case this is helpful to some one else.
Here is a picture I put together for myself, of my setup.
I set my A Axis in the  motor home soft limits to reverse.
Reason is the brass gear that the stepper motor turns that feeds the PLA,
must go in the direction to feed the PLA into the heated head.
Now the work begins of building 3D GCODE of something sinmple.
If some on has something small they can share that would be great.
Then I can see how good this system performs.

Good morning
First thank you Hood for getting back to me yesterday it was an intensive,
to keep plunging along.
Went back at it again this morning, think I found the problem, sure of it.
Checked the printer LPT cable solid on.
But did find the USB cable that goes from desktop to  my controller box,
not in real good, basically out of the little hole.
Stupid error :-[
It is only a connection like one would use to charge there cell phone.
All is up and running.
Did a test run with a 3D GCODE all works.
My 3d printer head use the A  axis from another heat producing box.
Posting a few pictures so one can see my setup.

Tried 35KHz no difference.
Deleted Mach and reloaded it, set it all up again.
Every thing OK except the same problem no motor turning.
Used my had held all X,Y, Z, A, AXIS al work, all DROs work.
So I will have to open my controller box and see what is going on.
I do not think it is Mach or the setup unless my printer port card died.
It is an add on card and the control panel says there is no problem or conflict,
and it shows me the port setup being used.
Anyway tomorrow is another day.
Thank you I'm off to bed.

When I run the code any code and get the DROs just no motor movement.
I always used 25KHZ with the motor speed I had set no problem till now. ??
But will try 35KHZ
Always use Inch mode never change it, and all GCODE worked till now, it is weird what has happened.
Thank you
Will try the 35KHZ for a starter, if no luck will reload Mach and set it all up again.

General Mach Discussion / IDLE LIGHT IN DIAGNOSTIC PAGE
« on: July 08, 2014, 01:03:43 PM »
Hi
I have been away ( car accident not hurt just a loss of $$$ ) so just started back with my machine.
I have all my settings as right as can be, and all was well till a week ago.
Now my motors will not run in PC MODE, as I also have a hand held and can switch to that, and all works.
No other light on IN THE DIAGNOSTIC PAGE except metric and I set it up for English,
the idle light and, run when I load GCODE
Is the idle controlled by a switch.
Is this why my motors will not run ???
I have no E STOP LIGHT and can reset to a green no problem

General Mach Discussion / Re: lLearning curve a few pictures

I'm new to this but will give it a try.
If Brett does not know and he is real good, I will try from a
different point of view.
Milling is no different then Routing. So try the milling option.
( Terminology can get in the way some times. )
For starters boot up Mach3 and choose MACH3 MILL.
Go to the FILE option top of page far left.
Choose G-CODE for now .
The go to your C:/ drive folder and choose MACH3.
In there choose G-GODE the choose ROAD RUNNER
Try to run road runner first  to see if it takes it and it will run.
Other then that I'm a newbe to this all but this is the first thing
I tried to see if my machine would work.
As far as the tap file goes if you are importing a BMP, OR JPG ETC into
mach3 you need to convert it into a DXF extension CAD program extension.
This is another whole kettle of fish.
Cheers hope I'm some help..
