Hood,

That's GREAT!   It means I can do what is needed with very low cash investment.

Thank you for the relpy.

Hello all,

Will the smoothstepper support G50 and G51 for axis scaling with Mach3?

Thanks,
Rich

I was afraid of that...   Thanks.

General Mach Discussion / planet-cnc USB controller

Hello All,

I have a customer with set of motors and control box sourced by Probotix.   The control box has a planet-cnc USB control card as its input and stepper control.   The software provided does not do everything we need, and Mach3 will.    Is it possible to run the planet-cnc USB card with Mach3?

General Mach Discussion / Re: RS232 fro gcode to serial port

Stirling,

I am sorry for the cross post and will not do that again.

BR549,

I have seen controllers where it is possible to send commands directly from a tool-path to the RS232 port for communication with and control of other machines.    In this case I can get by with toggling a relay thru an m-function.   But it would work better if I could talk directly to the other system.   Which plug-in are you referring to?  I will certainly look into it.

Thank you for the reply,

RP

General Mach Discussion / RS232 from gcode to serial port
« on: June 15, 2013, 11:28:23 AM »
One of these days I will learn to proofread before sending.

If  there is not a way to send ASCII data from G-code to a serial port for RS232 communications,  can it be done via USB?   Also,  is there any way to send an digital “word”, such as “10010011” to the outside world for control of external devices?

The basic question is:  Can Mach3 be made to communicate with other devices so as to provide programmable control in any method other than a simple Hi or Lo at an I/O output?

Hello Group.

Is there a way to ASCII data from G-code to a serial port for RS232 communications between the Mach3 program and an external device?

Thank you in advance

Hello and thanks for the suggestions.   I am a novice with mach3 but hope to learn as much as possible.  Right now all I need to do is have M3 set pin 8 hi and M5 set it low.  I will need the same for pin 9 with some other numbers soon.    This has nothing to do with spindle  or coolant,  it is opening and  closing a laser shutter.   The choice of Function number is legacy.  It is fine if it is easier to use another set of numbers.   The I/O for pin 8 and 9 are hardwired and I would rather not change that.  But, any Number is fine.

I am configuring a new install of Mach3 with steppers and the parallel port.  I have the X-Y motors working fine but I need to assign pin8 and pin9 to specific M-functions.   How do I assign M3 to turn pin 8 on, and M5 to turn it off, and the same for pin 9 with and M#?

Also, where can I find information on customizing screens?
