General Mach Discussion / spindle calibration
« on: January 16, 2013, 04:54:10 PM »
Hi all
i had my lathe spindle set up with pwm output (0-10v) working index pulse displaying correct speed and not that far out with the sword from speeds from 200-4000rpm
then i decided to run the auto calibration to try and improve things- big mistake!

the calibration process completed ok but shows a massive spike at start. for some reason the spindle never started till about 1000rpm+
and now spindle does not respond to swords below 1500. i deleted the lineration.dat and restarted and still the same. I noticed the control ratio shows about 0.01 (as opposed to nearer 1?

is there anything i can do to get it back to its default settings or is it a complete reinstall!?

do i still need to set steps/vel/acceleration in motor tuning even thou it is PWm?

thanks in advance for any help!

hi
i am just using the short ribbon cable as supplied betwen the pokeys and poextbus and no shielding to the 24v supplys to and from the relay module. i have noticed that the small capacitor on the underside of the poextbus is not present- dont know if that matters?
the usb cable is a good quality shielded type

i may try disconnecting the contactor and see if that makes a difference....

PoKeys / po56u and poextbus problem
« on: January 08, 2013, 03:07:11 PM »
i have a problem with the extbus device.
i have an output connected to a relay module (24v relay) and this switches a contactor but no (coolant) motor connected as yet
now on switching on using either keyboard or external button - sometimes it works but most times relay twitches off then on again- or vice versa- only sometimes staying in the correct state as shown on the mach screen.
the relay is well within current limits of the extbus and i cant see how this would affect the load on the bus.

PoKeys / Re: pokeys plugin defective

hi matevz
all ok now thanks!
think i now know where i may have gone wrong. the documentation says to copy the dll manuallly so i copied the only dll i could find- pokeysdevice_dll.dll and that may have caused my problems!

anyway thanks again
Alan

thanks for the help!
well i have run the 19 file again and it updated the firmware ok. but it never asked for the activation key - not that i need it anyway as i only want the basic i/o. plus the device seems to be 'unlocked' and in the reply i got back from polabs they never mentioned any of what has been said to me here! only that i need to run the development version of the softeware

i then had to copy the pokeysdevice_dll.dll file manually in my plugin folder as it never did it automatically
i exited the pokeys software and ran mach- still refused to load the plugin!

What i will do is start over and uninstall mach and pokeys and try again - with a fresh mach install first- in case its my existing setup thats causing problems- then reload my mach cofig files etc
