General Mach Discussion / Re: configuration for spindle control
« on: January 09, 2013, 08:09:57 PM »
there is nothing in the g540 manual in regards to settings for spindle control for the bldc motor, vsd & add on board as the way it is controlled in sx3. was just hoping somebody had been through this procedure could cut out the trial error process. i have had dealings with peter and he is good and helpful but when i communicated with him in regards to spindle control for this setup he couldnt suggest recommend anything. purchased na machining camera from him that have had troubles getting to work left messages for him to call me- still waiting. Nick not too difficult to change out transformer i just desoldered the 110v trans from board soldered 4 x fly leads and have a seperate stand alone 240 - 9v  transformer. you could also use a 240 to 110v stepdown trans before main connection to add on board and would work fine. so you havent been able to get hold of promica? i was trying to contact them unsuccessfuly  for a while too. was interested in their hardware kit for hv-6 rotary table. never heard back. bit strange, what i have seen of their gear looks impressive.

gday Nick,  yes you are right is for 110v unfortunately found this out too late and the hard way  by fryin transformer on the plugin board. i have replaced that with a suitable 240v transformer and am currently still tryin to get spindle operational as some other fault must of occured and still tryin to fault find it.

thanks for the reply hood. changed a few settings no longer gettin pwm bumped to min but getting no spindle action. rpm flash's up and quickly  drops off. even after searching forums till not positive about motor output/output signal settings should be. not entirely sure how this mod board works with nothing in regards to settings found online orsent with kit.

gday tweakie,  am sayin it is the motor. have even tried connecting different configs like half coil etc and runs for bit then stalls not at any particular  velocity at through range faster more severe of coarse.. can turn by hand relatively easy when not energised. i am thinkin must be a dodgy motor?

General Mach Discussion / stepper has me stumped
« on: November 17, 2012, 11:30:57 PM »
gday all hope someone can please help .Since i got my sx3 mill running always had problem with zaxis  stallin  and clunking running  at reasonably  slow rate. I had put this down to mechanical issues ie alignment etc.  have stripped head off removed stepper axis feels fine by hand. Bench tested stepper runs for few revs then clunks/stalls. Under no load. Have checked wiring seems good. Excluded driver error by swapping over  axis .followed motor have checked/ changed all setting s. I know of ,wired  bipolar parallel. 3.5k current limit res.  Don’t understand  doesnt matter what velocity etc always runs for bit then stalls! (nema 34 m906oz/in of g540) Any suggestions/ help be appreciated. Thank you
