General Mach Discussion / Re: sudden onset of Stepper stalling
« on: March 11, 2017, 03:38:17 PM »
I had a problem very similar except with the " y" axis...turned out the coupler between the stepper motor and the lead screw was loose.
Back and forth movement of the motor eventually caused it to loosen...I took the set screw out, put on some locktite, and really tightened it down...no more problems.

Hope that helps

Hi, I'm Phil...Been watching the forum while I built my CNC router...I just finished it a couple of weeks ago, and I'm testing it to make sure everything is working as it should...It has a 3ft x 4ft table footprint, moveable gantry with nema 34 stepper motors...The frame is 8020 aluminum with hardened round rails on the "x" and "y" axis, and ball bearing linear rails for the"z" axis...I'm running Mach3 on a Windows 7 laptop with a UC-100 motion controller...I'm looking forward to having some time to play.

General Mach Discussion / Re: USB Controller

I changed to a laptop with no printer port, so I bought a UC-100 USB motion controller and it works really well.

Mike...don't know if this is too late...I'm running Mach 3 on a Windows 7/64 bit computer with no problems at all, and I'm using a UC-100 USB motion controller with no problems at all...I did this because my XPERIA machine decided to die, and I had a W/7 computer available to me... The motion controller plugs into the computer with a USB and to my break-out with a DB-25 (same as old printer cable)...my router runs smoother and faster (only had to retune the motors and install the plugin available from the maker...hope this helps

Hello All...My name is Phil, and I've just joined this forum today...trying to find all I can about Mach3 as I'm going to use it to run a CNC router I"m in the process of building...this machine is my own design using 8020 extrusions and as many off the shelf parts as I can...I taught manual machining and moved up to teaching CNC machining in a Community College here in North Carolina...I retired from full time teaching 5 years ago, but I still teach CNC classes part time...I am a hobbyist woodworker and general fixit kind of guy, and looking forward to completing my machine soon...I've been doing the design work on my CAD/CAM system and I'm at the point of cutting real parts so I can start the assembly....wish me luck!
