I am up & running as of now. I have ironed out most of my issues.  Right now I am setup with Oxy/Fuel but will be adding plasma once I have everything else going.   Although I haven't cut but a very few test pieces, Everything seems to be working pretty good.   I will probably take the plunge next week on an order that will consume (2) 4' X 8' sheets of 3/8" & (1) sheet of 1/2"

I am a complete newby to CNC.

Looking for some help to get going with my table.   I have everything set up, have installed mach3, Run in Candcnc support CD.  I have had everything  on & can get movement on the DRO(s)

I need a bit of help calculating steps for my motors & tuning them.

I have not been able at this point to get any movement from the stepper motors.  I don't know what I am missing.     My home & limit switches all seem to be wired & functioning properly.  I have no LED lit on the table I/O card indicating a problem there.

I must admit, even after reading the manuals repeatedly, I don't know what question(s) to ask.

General Mach Discussion / Plasma Table Question
« on: October 17, 2007, 05:50:18 PM »
Below is a copy of a post I made to CandCNC. Tom sent me here.  If this is not the correct forum Please redirect me.
Can someone help me with this.

I am working on wiring my table I/O card. I am needing to control (2) gas solenoid valves from the relays on the card one of the solenoids is 110V .14A., (torch on or mix gases) The second is 110V. .12A. (pierce valve)

Of the 3 relays on the I/O card, K3, K4, & K5 which ones do you recommend I use for the above scenario?

Any of them would work fine. You may want to preserve K3 (30A relay) for a future heavy load. K4 and K5 are accessed via Flood and Mist commands. One slight problem is both Flood and Mist turn off with an M09. You can turn them on individually.

All relays are independent. You turn them on using a MACH output. The
status of that output determines whether it is on or off. The spindle
relay (output1) turns on and off with two different M codes.

If you want to control a relay with other than the canned Spindle;
Mist and Flood you need to address it through a macro call. Check the
MACH 3 group to get macro assistance.

General Mach Discussion / Sheetcam/Mach 3
« on: October 03, 2007, 06:01:43 PM »
I am setting up sheetcam to use with mach3 for my plasma table.   After selecting mach plasma for the post processor, It then asks for G-code extention.  Sheetcam is defaulted to .tap extention. Is this correct or does it need changed to one of the other extentions?

General Mach Discussion / First time

Is there a forum or thread to help guide a first time user (ME) to set up, configure Mach for use on a plasma table?
