I see a definite pattern in the way the chips have fallen and taking into account the wind factor caused by the rotation of the machine that cut these chips and the atmospheric conditions in the ionosphere directly above said machine I am in no doubt that the total number of chip including the very small ones is 2,726,841

Thanks Guys

Am now able to jog away from limits no problems and both computers are running the full version of Mach 3.

Need to read up on setting software limits and assigning limits as home.

I am sure there will be more questions to come but I am at least making some progress now.

Thanks again

Lawrie

I have just installed limit switches on my router table and they appear to be working a bit too well.

I have limit switches at both ends of X & Y travel and also at top of Z travel . All switches are wired in series and all when triggered will
bring the drives to a stop.

My problem is that I am unable to move or jog away from the limit switch without going in and disabling all the switches. How can I fix this problem        ???

One other question ;

I am running Mach 3 which is licenced  on my office pc but I have put another computer in the workshop just to run my router.
Both are running Windows XP but when I copied Mach 3 to the workshop computer I appear to have only got the trial version.

I understand why this is the case but is there a way round this or do I need to licence a second copy???

Thanks

Lawrie

General Mach Discussion / limit and home switches
« on: April 23, 2007, 07:31:46 AM »
Having just completed building my first cnc router table I now need to install limit and home switches befor I destroy all my hard work.
I am running Xylotex drive, power supply and 269 oz in stepper motors. Any advice on what switches to use, where I can get them and the installation and wiring of the same would be of great assistance.
I have one other silly question: I am able to jog the X & Y axis and have managed to cut a near perfect circle using one of the wizards but how do I jog the Z axis ????

Hi my name is Lawrie and I am in Palmerston North, New Zealand.
I am pretty much a newbe at this cnc game and six months after deciding to build a cnc router I finally got to actually cut something yesterday. This may not be a great achievement to some but in my workshop it was a great leap forward after all this time.
My router table has a cutting area of 25" x 37" with a Z travel of 6". I am running  an Xylotex Package including 269 oz in stepper motors, drive board and power supply.
I still have a lot of work to complete befor my table is finished and running properly but thanks to Mach3, and the support and encouragement I have had (and will continue to need ) from the members of this forum, I am sure I will get there eventually.
My next step has to be installing limit and home switches befor I destroy all my hard work.
