General Mach Discussion / Engraving stick fonts
« on: February 10, 2012, 06:19:40 PM »
Thanks to all who replied to my last post.  Still having a difficult time.  Got the fonts worked out, but having a problem with the lines of text don't come out straight.  The lines seem to waver in both "X" & "Y" axis.  Have adjusted the spindle speed & feedrate to optimum, but the lines of text are still crooked, they are drifting randomly.  Could it be slack in these axis ballscrews?  Any and ALL suggestions welcome.  Thanks again to everyone.  I'll be awaiting your replies.

FIRST OF ALL THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO ANSWERS MY POST, YOU HAVE BEEN A GREAT HELP!!!

M question for the day is;  I am trying to engrave Mfg's ID & SN's on Aluminum parts.  I have selected the font and size, have generated the g code, and have dry run the program.  the issue is that my engraving tool is traveling along the outline of the letters in the text.  I need ti scribe over or engrave ON the line of the text as opposed to the outline.  Please help!  Thanks again!!!!!! ???

General Mach Discussion / posting gcode
« on: February 06, 2012, 06:44:01 PM »
Having trouble getting all of my g code to post from LazyCam to Mach3.  Mach3 only picks up the first 25 lines of code.  Program has more than 2170 lines of code.  Any suggestions?  Tried to generate and post code on two different machines.  One PC running MS Windows 7 I can write & post g code no problem.  When I try to write and post gcode on old PC running Windows XP only get first 25 lines in Mach 3.

General Mach Discussion / Re: conversational cnc programming software

Yes Rich, we will be using Mach3 to control the DIYCNC 6040.  Brett, I would be happy to receive the help from anyone in this group.  I took a look at newfangledsolutions.com and didn't see anything that could be used to program toolpath for text.  The rest of NFS's package look rather user friendly and easy to figure out.

General Mach Discussion / conversational cnc programming software
« on: January 24, 2012, 06:10:54 PM »
I am new to Arcsoft Mach3, and am looking for a compatible conversational cnc programming software.  I have a customer wanting serial numbers engraved in some pieces and it's been 10+ years since I did gcode programming.  The last conversational program I used was CAD2CNC or HURCO milling software.  Any suggestions on an inexpensive software package would help.
