PoKeys / Porelay8 with Mach 4 and Pokeys57CNC relays not triggering
« on: May 08, 2022, 07:39:35 AM »
I'm trying out Mach 4 and I can get all of the relays on the Porelay8 board to trigger (the magnet activates and all of the LEDs light up on the board) when I test it in PoExtBus Smart but when I try it in Mach they won't trigger.

When I go into Mach 4 then Diagnostic>Pokeys Plugin-Polabs the status display appears and when I cycle the flood and mist buttons on and off the boxes in the status display switch on and off accordingly. It seems like its working theoretically but the relays won't activate and deactivate.

I did remap the flood and mist buttons to the relays on the 57CNC board and they worked fine there, but not on the Porelay8 board. Any thaughts on this?

Thanks

Got this sorted. The default settings in the DMM-Tech drives is not for Pulse/Direction which is what Pokeys and basically every other breakout board in the hobby cnc field uses. I have reset this with the drive tuning software and the motors now work.

OK, thanks anyway.

PoKeys / Motors not turning
« on: October 23, 2021, 03:36:50 AM »
Hi,

I'm bench testing a new setup running Mach3, Pokeys57cnc and a DMM-Tech 6 motor servo system. I can run the spindle from Mach and the e-stop works so it looks like Pokeys is working OK. The servo motors can run using the DMM-Tech tuning cable plugged into my laptop and when Mach is in control the motors are holding position but cannot be moved by jogging. None of the axes are inhibited in Mach. I've double checked the pin outs on the looms that run from pokeys to the drives and all is good. Any ideas what is wrong?

Thanks

Ftec, thank you so much for the detailed reply. I'll get to and see if I can get it up and running.

Hi Ftec, have you had any success with this? I recently got a Porelay8 which I would like to run with Mach3 paired with Pokeys57cnc. I did ask tech support at Polabs if they had any tutorials or worked examples of mating the Mach3 outputs with Pokeys but the reply I received was so vague that it was basically useless. I looks like Mach4 is far easier to pair but I thought I might look into Mach3 a little further before committing to upgrading.

PoKeys / Porelay8 and Mach3
« on: October 21, 2021, 10:41:08 PM »
Hi,

Anyone had experience setting up a Porelay8 on Mach3? The user manual is helpful to a point but I have not been able to get it functioning.

What I aim to do is to use the relays to control a pneumatic valve set to look after tool changes, coolant, extension and retracting a touch probe and camera.

I did find this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFzRodtRJEc&ab_channel=CNCPRINT but it is in German and for Mach4 and there are some major differences between the menus in Mach 3 and 4. It really starts to look different around the 2 minute 13 seconds mark.

Thanks

PoKeys / Connecting Pokeys57CNC with CNC4PC C4 Charge Pump
« on: October 14, 2021, 03:29:16 AM »
Hi,

I'm looking for confirmation that I understand the wiring between these two units. From what I can see I run a wire from pin 45 on the DB25 connector to Pulse IN terminal on the C4 then from the Pulse OUT terminal on the C4 I run a wire to any of the ground terminals on the DB25 connector.

I would then need to go into the pulse engine status/control settings abd tick the Enable pulse engine, Enable safety charge pump output and make sure it is set at pin 45.

Is this correct?

Thanks

I just opened the screenset in Klaus’ MachScreen and found the led did not have a function assigned. I guess I didn't do it correctly in Screen4. All working now.

Thanks for you help with this anyway.
Cheers

Thanks TPS, that's interesting. I used Screen4 to add the C axis button and LED. I've attached the set file, any chance you could test it on your computer and see if it works or not? Modified in 1024*768.

Thanks
