thanks for the input guys but, as i was told, these options do not work with the interpreter 1000
(guess i should have told you about that piece of the puzzle) ::)

sorry 'bout that

anyway, it looks like the issue is inside the interpreter - MachMotion is working on it right now - i'll keep you posted on what becomes of this

thanks again

hello all!!

trying to finish the retro on my 96 Arrow 500 and we're a little stuck on the ATC.
during normal operation of the spindle, the spindle runs with the speed command (M3/M4 S***)
when changing a tool the spindle needs to run as a axis - "C" to allow the spindle to orient to a position that allows the alignment lobe to fit in the tool holder.
The C axis reads in degrees 0-360+ and the tool change needs to be done at approx. -90 degrees

our problem is - once the "C" DRO reads +/-185,000 degrees, or over, it will home the spindle but will not reset the DRO to 0, so the spindle can move to -90 degrees for the tool change to complete. it will change a tool if the C reads +180000 or -180000 degrees. since it is set to degrees it only takes about 8 seconds at 4000 RPM to reach this 180000 reading.
i have changed the Rotational DRO to roll over so it only ever goes to 360 degrees thinking that might fix it but the encoder keeps piling on the degrees in the "C" axis reading window

has anyone run into this before?
are we looking at the orient feature the wrong way?

thanks for any input

Brains Development / Re: safety door interlock brain

yes, i need to have the solenoid physically lock the door shut.
The brains thing is a little hard to understand but, i can make the 1 and 2 liners work.
Ends up i used the "Cycle Start" macro and added the input# and output# for the interlock and the "M1030" macro with output# to release the solenoid at end of program.
this was the direction MachMotion sent me... i need to do a little more tweaking but it works very well

thanks BR

have a good day

thought i'd let you know...

it's better to have a macro run this instead of a brain

have a good one folks  ;D

Brains Development / safety door interlock brain
« on: October 31, 2012, 02:31:01 PM »
good day all

would anyone have an example of a door interlock brain... my machine can be run either as manual or CNC. i would like to be able to run the lathe with the door open for manual operation then only closed for CNC operation. i'm using a 24VDC coil operated interlock.
I've been trying to develop a brain (with no success) to do this. i think i need one that sees the input is met (key in interlock) then output opens/closes when "cycle start" is engaged. i don't know enough about brains to figure this out just yet or if that's even how it needs to happen. ???

thanks for any suggestions

well there ya go... another wrinkle in the brain

i'm not formally trained in CNC g-code - just what i've picked up along the way

with the old controller on this machine it never showed me that... the conversation was a different language than Mach

i'll give that a try and let you know

thanks Hood

good day Hood

for tool #1 - M6 T1 _ should it be M6 T01

thanks

good day all

would anyone one know why an M6 command will not change the number in the TOOL# DRO to anything but a 0
I suspect it is in the macro but i'm not sure what should be changed.
i don't have a tool changer on my lathe but my tool post will hold up to 4 tools and with an M6 command, the saddle, rapids to a tool change position, set in the diagnostics screen and the TOOL # DRO sets itself at 0 - if i forget entering the tool number in the DRO before hitting the cycle start... the machine rapids to the limit switches  :o NOT GOOD!
I have "stop spindle and wait for cycle start" turned on in the Mach3 general config window

I've attached the macro if anyone has time to look and see where my problem might be

thanks all

General Mach Discussion / Re: Turn Drill Wizard

this system is brand new with Win7 - that may be the issue... not sure though

is there a macro associated with the drill programs that i might not have or do these wizards use the macros?

going to try and link up with Machmotion today and hopfully resolve this
