General Mach Discussion / Re: some help for a mach3 newbie please
« on: March 17, 2011, 05:45:01 PM »
Hi, reinstalled windows from scratch and problem solved, I had some small trouble with the external estop activating without being hit but managed to get info from this web site on debounce settings and it seems to be fine now, after playing around for a few days I have managed to do a couple of real jobs with out problem. I really like both mach3 and vectric now I am getting more familiar with them. I made a prototype extraction hood from some perspex, a piece of waste plumbing pipe and some door  brush draught excluder which seems to work well, here is a little video of some work I have been doing lately http://www.youtube.com/user/dougiedot#p/a/u/0/fq-UrAC5DM8 I added some music over the video to drown out the noise of the machine, Doug

General Mach Discussion / some help for a mach3 newbie please

Hi, I have recently upgraded an old Isel router to run from Vectric cut2d and Mach3, so far I have been having great success with both but I have got 1 small problem that I cant find an answer to on the forums it is this, when I load mach3 in windows XP it runs as it should but if I leave it idle for any length of time say half an hour then it fails to respond or moves very very slowly from the arrow keys, the only solution is to shut the program down and reload, I would be grateful for any suggestions, I have uploaded a small video on youtube of the first time I got it going earlier this week  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXbSbShJqpg  I will hope to load more of it doing some signs, thanks Doug

Hi Hood, thanks for the reply. I would love to take you up on that and are not too far away for me. There are loads of great tutorials and advice on the net but it would be nice to see mach3 in action. I assume the principle would be the same on a mill as the router, can I  contact you private to arrange a suitable time maybe in the next few weeks weather permitting! regards Doug

Hi, I am Doug from near Inverness in the north of Scotland. I have been using cnc routers for a number of years making wood signs and things mainly on a hobby level but I do a little commercial work. recently I was offered an old Isel router which is not working and has been lying around for a few years so I have been doing as much research as possable on the net with the hope of getting it going again. this is a huge learning curve as the workings of routers are all a bit of a mystery at the moment. my present router is a Gerber dimension 200 which is incredably simple to operate. If I am to convert the Isel i understand that I will need  control software and it seems Mach3 is the the way to go. I have downloaded the trial version and am trying to familiarise with it as much as possable before putting it to test, if there is anyone within a couple of hours of Inversness using Mach3 to control a router I would love to see it in action. I have a small video of the dimension 200 on youtube just do a search for Gerber dimension 200 (beware the background noise) well off to trawl the site for more info and further confuse myself, cheers Doug
