PoKeys / Pokeys xml location
« on: February 12, 2014, 06:10:05 AM »
I need to know where the pokeys config file is located so I can transfer all of the settings to a fresh Mach install.

I had a motherboard go bad so I built a new computer. I kept the old hard drive & set it as a slave. Installed a fresh copy of Mach on the new drive & transfered my xml file over. All of my Mach sttings are there, but when I open the pokeys plugin all of my settings are gone.

Thanks

NeoTO,
I fixed the problem. I wiped out all of the cofiguration files & started from scratch. I think that if you disable an input without setting the button choice back to none before you write the configuration in Mach causes a problem.

Thanks for the help.

PoKeys / Pokeys pins 35-37
« on: December 01, 2012, 08:13:10 PM »
Does anyone know why pins 35-37 are mapped automatically to CLK, DA & OL when you configure the Pokeys55 with mach? I see them when I open the Pokeys software, but you can't choose them or change them. What are they mapped for?

PoKeys / axis runaway using pokeys55
« on: December 01, 2012, 07:53:52 PM »
Has anyone had axis runaway using an MPG with Pokeys55?

I'm using a 5 position switch with a common ground to select axis' x, y, z & a. Position one is used for off. When I select position two for the x-axis, the indicator in Mach shows i'm jogging x & the x-axis will jog fine. However when I select the next position for the y-axis, Mach shows i'm jogging y but when I move the MPG the y-axis will move & then the x-axis starts to move & won't stop.

The MPG is connected as follows;
A - pin 1 on Pokeys
B- pin 2 on Pokeys
Gnd - gnd on Pokeys
V+ - to 5V on Pokeys
A- - N/C
B- - N/C

I used the filtering schematic in the Pokeys manual which consists of a 1k resistor in series with the pokeys pin & it is shunted to gnd through a 100nf capacitor. I tried it with & with out the filter & got the same results.

I also have a 4 x 4 matrix keypad & another rotary selector switch for the step increment & they work fine.

Neo,

I would like to use the Pokeys55 for everything. I've read everything I can, but i'm getting frustrated with the lack of documentation regarding the proper mapping of IO pins to specific Mach functions. You make it sound so easy.

Questions;
1) When setting up the MPG encoder channels A & B in the Pokeys Plugin, what do I select for the IO.
2) What do I use for MPG1 settings on the encoders tab in Mach. (Ive seen some people use 10 for the port & nothing for the pins? Are you supposed to put a port# as if I was using a parallel port?)
3) Also regarding the MPG, I've seen posts about mapping to encoder 4, do I need this?
4) What does the pendant mode check box at the bottom of the Pokeys plugin screen do?

Thanks for the help in advance. It will be great to wire everything up in one box & just run a USB cable.

I was successful in using the pokeys software, but I went back to using the Mach plugin to gain easier access to some of special function buttons.
It's funny that I can now get all of the buttons except for the easiest one. However I think that the tab is not a button in Mach. Mach is just reading the keys on the keyboard, i just need to find out how to map to the tab key function.

Thanks

PoKeys / Buttons in pokeys plugin

Does anyone know what button number is used to bring up the mpg fly-out(tab key on keyboard)?
This is in the pokeys plugin.

Thanks

After thinking about for a bit I figured it out.
I removed the plugin for the Pokeys & then configured it using the pokey software. Wrote macros to handle the alt functions & everything works great.
Since I only want to use the pokeys to simulate a keyboard, this was the best solution.

For my MPG pendant, I bought individual parts & wired it like CNCfoPC's MPG2 & used their C22 LPT interface card.
