Mach3 under Vista / Re: Getting up and running in Vista
« on: March 22, 2007, 03:12:15 PM »
Senerio:

Installed Mach 3 as per instructions.  Modified registry with .reg file.  Everything works, but with version .049 which caused some jittery motion with G-Code.

Un-installed Mach 3 and re-installed using .059 version.  Checked driver, all seems well, but Mach 3 does not show driver being enabled on when running the controller.

Tried re-running the .reg file.  Re-tested using drivertest.exe.  Still no response on the controller.

Please advise.

LazyCam is a good DXF conversion to G-Code, but not used for design.

For the beginner, my personal preference is BobCAD.  It has some controversial interfacing and methods, but…. For the money, it has few competitors.

Once you start with a system, it's always a large learning curve, but after you get the hang of it..... it becomes second nature.

I am of the opinion that rigid tapping would be wonderful.  G84 for the masses!

General Mach Discussion / Port setting with GREX?
« on: July 21, 2006, 01:59:29 AM »
I've asked this before, but I've not recieved an answer yet.  Please, if you know, reply?

I love the GREX 100.  Smooth, fast, IO.... oh yeah.  Problem is:  I have wonderful movement, but to this day I can't get anything else to work (E-Stop, Spindle VFD control, Coolant).  What port is the GREX?  Port 0, Port 3.....

I know GREX is still "experimental", but could someone with good results please post some good setup tips.

Thank you.

General Mach Discussion / Re: g rex 100 / 101

G100 is a ready made retail product.  G101 is a PC board and instructions on how to assemble and program yourself.  If you are looking to save time, G100 is the way to go.

Could you post a pin out configuration?

I'm thinking of purchasing one too.  They tell me I should run their Windows PCNC software.  I'd sure like to stick with Mach though.  Did they send you the DOS version?

Love the plugin for Mach 3 and the GRex 100.  Thank you.

Just one question:  What values can I input in the Encoder boxes?  I'm running steppers with encoders.

Thanks again.

General Mach Discussion / Rage rising!! (Mystery Men Quote)
« on: June 20, 2006, 03:09:54 AM »
Ok, I really need your help on this one.  I'm considered new so to the experts this is a no brainer.

I'm having issues with Mach 3 going at the beat of it's own drumer.  By that I mean, I set the feed rate at 3, and Mach runs at 90-105 ipm in the blended feed rate.  I've included a small bit of my code:

N7079 X12.498 Y1.1121
N7081 Z0.3000
N7083 M5
(1/8" Pocketing)
N7087 G00 X0 Y0 Z2 M06 T3
N7091 X16.8875 Y8.974 Z0.2500 S10000 M3
N7093 Z0.0500 F6.0 G99
N7095 Y8.9706 Z0.0491 F3.0 G99
N7097 X16.8742 Z0.0455
N7099 X16.8691 Y8.9716 Z0.0441

This isn't a once in awhile thing, it's every time.  As you can see, feed rates are 6 and 3.  What I get is over 100 ipm.  Now I don't have to tell you how much fun it is to break the carbide (expensive) bit every time it does this.

So what am I doing wrong?  In the FR window it says 3.0.  In the FRO it says .16.  In the blended FR is see 90-105ipm.

I'm running 1.90.050.  The feed rate before this tool was 27ipm, all ran well.  Is it the rapid feed over to my tool change position a problem?  Is it the G99 code?

Thank you for your time.

I haven't tried the high helix cutters.  Good suggestion.

I think your right on with cutter push pull.  The gantries on routing tables don't like alot of torque applied lateral.  Not the most rigid for sure.
