Ok, thanks to all.

I didn't mean I expect Mach3 to sleep and later wake up part way through a milling routine. I meant, after a routine is finished, which normally for me, is only 10-15 min long, why can't the computer enter sleep mode, and when I'm ready to run another routine, wake up with Mach3 ready to go.
Whyyyyy???? This is freaking me out, it should be fairly simple, but maybe I'm fairly simple. ???
Thanks

Hi. I stupidly posted this question before with the subject Driver gets lost, leading some to believe I was posting a joke or a tale about my wife's driving, ;D
What I meant is why does the Mach3 driver refuse to wake up? I put a shortcut on my desktop to the system properties, where I can find the Mach3 driver under
the device manager. From there you can right click - disable, and then right click- enable. This works, but is a pita. I want to be able to leave sleep mode active,
as I'm often doing other things while the machine is milling.
Anyway, thanks for any advice.

If there really isn't a fix for this, is there a way to put a shortcut on the desktop to restart the driver without rebooting, or am I right off the mark here, as I'm not really sure about this stuff????
Thanks.

General Mach Discussion / Driver gets lost?
« on: September 11, 2011, 09:58:20 AM »
Hi.
I've got Mach3 working on an XP PC, and when I leave it for a bit and it goes into sleep mode, the Mach3 driver must get screwed up, because when the PC wakes up there is no response from the CNC afterwords. It works fine after rebooting, but I'd like to keep sleep mode functioning, and Mach3 working without rebooting.
Is there a cure for this?
Thanks.

Thanks Tweakie, your the man! You have an excellent site as well. Looks like I've got a lot of reading to do, and likely
many questions :P

YeeHaa!, my first post!

I have a Romaxx WD-1 with a closed loop option using a Sound Logic encoder board.
I known next to nothing about this stuff, and I'm not even going to try to get the closed loop working, but what I whould like to get working is a Z-Zero touch plate.
I am using Mach3, and VCarve Pro, and for the most part everything works, but specifically does anyone know what pin to connect the plate wire to, and where on this board it is?
In Mach3 how would I configure this?
I've read some stuff on this, but it usually assumes you have a clue or 2. The lingo- encoder, port address, breakout board, and all the rest makes my head hurt.
Can anyone offer an explanation of how to get this working, preferable dumbed down to idiot level. :P
The second printerport is installed, and connected and enabled in Mach3.
Thanks very much.

Just registered, but I've been lurking around this site for a year or so. This is an excellent site, and I'm hoping to learn a lot, and maybe some day return the favor, but right now I'm at square one. I've been doing woodwork for years, custom furniture mostly, and purchased a Romaxx WD-1 last year. I also have Vetric cut3d, VCarve Pro, and Mach3, but haven't had the time to really sit down with this stuff and figure it out. One day I'm hoping it'll all make sense!
Anyway, its too much fun learning this stuff. Haven't broke any bits yet, but crashed into the end stops I don't know how many times!
Thanks for any help I'm sure to get from here!
