General Mach Discussion / Mach3 limited step pulse frequency problem
« on: October 29, 2018, 07:02:35 AM »
I am using Mach3 on Windows 7. The hardware is A4988 (stepper driver) and a small stepper motor taken from photocopier. I am using 12VDC and printer port.

The Motor Turning setup is:

Steps per unit >5080
Velocity > 6
Acceleration > 0.6
Step pulse (1-5 us) > 0

This setting works fine. But whenever I try to increase Velocity e.g. 10 or 15 or 20. The motor turns with only Velocity (6). I mean that I increase the velocity in Motor Turning Setup, but in practice it does not increase and it remain 6. I also tried to increase Step pulse (1-5 us) e.g. 1, 3, 5. But the velocity does not increase more than 6.

I also used 555 timer based step pulse generator in place of Mach3. When using 555 timer based step pulse generator, the motor turns with more than 6 Velocity and the motor run faster.

I could not figure out the problem. Using Mach3, the velocity should increase. Is there any problem with Mach3, printer port or computer itself?

General Mach Discussion / Need CNC beginning guide
« on: November 19, 2016, 01:58:32 PM »
I am building wood CNC router but it is not finished yet.

Suppose, I have finished it, tested all stepper motors, limit & home switches with Mach3.

Then, need to start working in real time. But there, needs guidance to start making drawing of one line or a big design in CAD program TO real-time engraving.

Please suggest me the basic tutorials or articles or book to get started.

I want to think about the things to do before when my CNC machine will be completed.

What mean by Tzzzzzzzzzz sound of motor in STILL position here?

Why L298 heat-sink heats up a lot dangerously after increase V.R to a specific higher value?

4
I am using L298 L297 in a way as attached image.

Now I have completed the test with 12V from ATX power-supply. NOW the maximum velocity I found is 175mm/min, still very low. I think I should try with MORE THAN 12V increase velocity.

The results are:

It all depends on veriable-resistor (V.Resistor), however to use it.

Note: When I say Tzzzzzzzzzz sound in motor-winding, it is when motor is in STILL condition but its screw does not vibrate.

(V.Resistor)---value zero --------   motor not move with step pulse

(V.Resistor) more increase ------- motor not move with step pulse but screw vibrates showing step pulse

(V.Resistor) more increase ------- motor moves with step pulse but a little Tzzzzzzzz sound in motor and L298 heat-sink does not heat up during work

(V.Resistor) more increase ------- motor moves with step pulse but MORE Tzzzzzzzz sound in motor and L298 heat-sink does not heat up during work

(V.Resistor) more increase ------- motor moves with step pulse but MORE MORE Tzzzzzzzz sound in motor and L298 heat-sink does not heat up during work

(V.Resistor) more increase ------- motor moves with step pulse but MORE MORE MORE Tzzzzzzzz sound in motor and L298 heat-sink does not heat up during work

(V.Resistor) more increase ------- motor moves with step pulse, NO Tzzzzzzzzzz sound but L298 heat-sink gets very much HOT in just 10 sec WITHOUT step pulse (it is dangerous point to stay)

Sorry, I forget to post Motor Tuning setting image

6
I am using 10mm lead with 1.50mm pitch, 200-steps per revolution and so 1.50mm per revolution. I tested the velocity, it can not be increased more than 65mm/min. If I increase, the motor stops after a JERK, and the motor power supply turns off automatically (thanks God, if it would not then it may harm).

The motor tuning setting is attached to show how I set the parameters.

Note:
Using full-step mode
Kernal speed = 35000Hz
Using computer ATX power supply.
Driving stepper with 5V
Using L297 & L298 driver.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach3 sending pulses to wrong LPT pins
« on: October 09, 2016, 11:08:21 PM »
Last time, I was just testing Mach3 with Parmon that was not right way to test.

Any way, by un-checking Max CL mode", it is working now

Thanks a lot for your guidance....

Note: I'm using L298 & L297 driver to drive bipolar stepper motor.

I just want to move X-axis motor, 200 steps or 1 cycle. What should be the ideal setting.

Step pin is attached to 2nd LPT pin.

After unchecking it, LPT monitor shows, after running G0 X200, pin 6 & 8 keeps high and all over low.

The numbers in X-units keep changing on screen, but the through out 0-200, pin 6 & 8 keep high and all others keep low as shown in attached image.

Note: Working on Win 7.

Yes, you are right.

But what it means? In 'MaxNC Mode' section, there are to options, only 'Max CL Mode' is checked.

Should I un-check it?

What does 'Max NC-10 Wave Drive' option mean?

Thanks
