Ray, this Link does not work.. Joe

I uninstalled, and installed the version from http://www.machsupport.com/software/mach3/. a couple of times and got a warning - unable to register component  C;\Mach3\dinput8.dll. Motor tuning will not let me save Dir pulse to 1 like it is on my xp machine, just goes back to 0. Mill moves all directions, but when following a program makes very tiny parts. Still is no setup screen to change from mm to inches. Lost here. Joe

I am currently running Mach 3 on an old xp machine and it works great, however the computer is about to die.  I  installed  Mach 3 on a newer Windows 7 home premium edition 32 bit system. Loaded like it should, looks like it should, driver loaded, there is a button that says setup screen , but does nothing. It's like there is no set up screen on the new one. The xp machine setup let me choose between mm and inches. The machine moves in all directions, but is limited in travel. I can not change between mm and inches, so the tool shows mm. When the travel stops it says softlimit system movement aborted. It is like I am missing something. I loaded the Xp machine years ago and had a problem then, but have no idea how I got it to work. I purchased the machine and Mach 3 from Minitec years ago, I have emailed them, but have not heard back. Help would be greatly appreciated. Joe

General Mach Discussion / Crop circles in Cut2d
« on: April 16, 2011, 10:29:10 AM »
I have been using Mach 3 for years with an old program that creates gcodes and is no longer working. I am trying to replace it with Cut2d, but when I open my file in Mach it has extra circles. Tony at Cut2d said that In Mach3 you need to change the Circular Arc I J settings to be Incremental moves. He sent me a picture of the general logic configuration page that has an IJ mode. My logic page looks like the picture I have uploaded. I am in dire straits and need to get this program to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My mill is down! Thanks Joe

G-Code, CAD, and CAM discussions / Re: Cutter Compensation

Graham, I realized today that the Mach3 that I have has tool length compensation on the main screen, and put in my tool dia 1/16, ran the program and it worked great. I tried to run several other programs, and sometimes good, sometimes crazy off track. Reload instead of rewind seems to take care of that problem. When you tell machine to home, x and y seems to work, but z just goes up till out of travel.I am new to this software and any advise that you can give will be appreciated. The software that worked the old controller was very simple and you can see it @ www.minitech.com/software/download/programs.htm. I purchased this mill 6 yrs ago from Minitech, and had it upgraded because of board failure, and the Minitech people did not know how to compensate for tool dia.!!!!!

I didn"t realize that compensation happened with the dxf file, but thought machine software did. Here is a dxf that we use. we always compensate to the outside oh the line.    Thanks Joe

I have a problem with compensation also. I just upgraded my mini mill 2 with new steppers and controller as well as Mach3. my g codes are created by a program I have used for years, (Minitech cnc) My templates come out 1 mm smaller all the way around. I use a 1 mm bit. I don't see any compensation in the Mach 3 program. I cut outside sometimes and inside others. I sure could use some help. Thanks joe
