General Mach Discussion / Re: Reversing Motors blew regulator
« on: July 02, 2012, 08:42:03 PM »
Thanks Gerry, must've just been a coincidence that it occurred at the moment I reversed motor direction. I'm replacing the length of 6 wire loom I suspect may be the culprit. I appreciate your help, Vinny

General Mach Discussion / Reversing Motors blew regulator
« on: July 02, 2012, 07:22:04 PM »
Hello,
I'm running a HobbyCNC 3 axis board thru unipolar motors. When changing the direction of my X axis motor to match my keyboard in
Config > Homing/Limits.
Check the "Reverse" column
I clicked OK/Apply and the motor made a spooling sound, then spooling up sound and the regulator blew. The builder of this board seemed puzzled that a software change would do that. This axis had smaller 24 gage wire to the motor while the other 2 axis are 22 gage, could this have caused it? The replacement part is on order. Thanks, Vinny
