FAQs / DRO not accepting inout

I recently had a catastrophic failure of the HDD while running the CNC.

It is years since I originally set the machine up and I have not needed to change any settings since then.

However, the XLS file was also lost and I have had to start from scratch again.

I have got almost everything running again, but  I now have a problem with which I am unfamiliar. The DROs refuse to accept any revisionist input from me.

I click on the DRO, I enter the number I want to see there and then press enter. The DRO just goes back to whatever was there before.

I have gone through all the settings I can think of, but the DROs still won't accept my input.

Does anybody have any idea what I may have changed/not changed?

I am running Windows 7 with the memory mod and the latest Mach3

1) There is no real difference between the two.

4) Certainly, get a JPG/BMP/many other file types file and use Inkscape to convert it to a DXF, then Convert that to gcode
5) Vacuum as fast as you can, but try not to get the vacuum nozzle caught in the cutter

Hi Art

Can you tell me why you decided to reserve pins 1 and 2 on port one for the probe in Darwin?

It's just that it sort of offends my sense of the correct order of things.  ;D

I would have thought that the motors would take precedence over just about everything else and yet they are relegated to a position behind the probe (which I may or may not have). It just isn't right.  :'(

I obviously haven't read all the posts in this section but wonder if anyone can help me?

I recently bought a Huanyang HY03D023B inverter, which is a 220v input 3.0 KW output VFD.

I could not get it to work, and told the supplier in China that it was a dud. After many days of measuring and them assuring me that it was a minor problem that they could fix easily, they finally said that they couldn't fix it and that they would send me a new inverter (I have to pay another $35 freight >:(.

The thing that is wrong with it seems to be nothing at all on the output side. It measures very high resistance between all terminals:
The resistance measurements are:
U-V = 4.7 Megaohms         (4M7)
U-W = 12.44 Megaohms     (12M44)
V-W = 4.82 Megaohms         (4M82)

and then, when power is applied:

Measurements across the U-V terminals was 10.6v, Then after pressing start it was 11.1 then after pressing stop it was 10v

Measurements across the U-W terminals was 4.3v, Then after pressing start it was 4.0 then after pressing stop it was 2.6v

Measurements across the V-W terminals was 8.5v, Then after pressing start it was 8.3 then after pressing stop it was 10.6v

As soon as I press the start button I get a fault dL which according to the manual is an output short circuit.
Their suggested course of action for this fault is:
1) Check whether the connection wire of the motor has a short circuit. (The motor is not connected)
2) Check whether the insulation of the output wires is good. (No output wires attached)
3) Send for repair.

So, does anyone have a circuit diagram for this inverter, or better still can anyone advise me what component has failed?

The manual also says that the VFD is fuse protected. I cannot find a fuse anywhere in the box.

Your replies would be much appreciated.

Hi Ron

You asked me to send some photographs and links for ways in which people can use their CNC machines for cutting dovetails and box joints.

The problem with cutting these joints on a CNC machine is the need for the round bits to cut a square shoulder in the timber, and for that to happen the timber needs to be machined from the end rather than from the top.

Three ways to achieve this are:
1) to cut a hole in the table surface so that  board can stick up through the table,

2) make the table able to cut over the end of the bed

3) make a shoe that is able to hold the router at right angles to the table surface

A fourth way is to only make very small boxes that will fit under the transom of the table.  ::)



I didn't want to cut a hole in table top, so I made a shoe that held the router at right angles to the table.

Shortly after doing this I had an epiphany realising that I could get a fair amount of router overhanging the end of the table by utilising the back of the transom to mount the Z axis. So all I need to do is unscrew the Z axis from the front of the transom and attach it to the rear of the transom.

I finally made a good dovetail using the previous instructions as a very rough guide. Only took me about 4 hours See the attached CRVs for what I did, using a 7 degree dovetail bit and a 6mm end bit which I told the program was a 5.75 mm bit so that I could get a tiny bit of clearance.

This is not true of all dovetails. In some of them, both halves of the joint are made with the dovetail cutter

Tell me how you setup a router to do dovetails? I see how to do the 'socket' part but not the pin part.

I am now writing the wizards for V4 and would consider other functions.
