Hi Craig,

I've decided to go with the ethernet Smooth Stepper along with the C25 BOB. It seemed like the easiest solution and easiest to connect.

The last question I have is your comment about Mach 4 being a poor choice for the Proma but still suggesting I switch to Mach 4. Is the anti-dive feature worth the Proma issue?

Again, thanks for the help.

Hi Craig,

I really appreciate the help. I've heard good things about the Smooth Stepper board and I'm leaning in that direction. Of course that leads to more questions.

Do you have any recommendations on what break out board would be best suited to this controller? I will be using a Proma 150 and DM542T drivers.

Is there any preference of USB or Ethernet to interface the Smooth Stepper?

It looks like the board is available with either a ribbon cable or screw terminal interface. My preference would be the screw terminals; any down side to that?

Again, thanks for the help.

I have a DIY plasma cutter and I want to upgrade it's control system.

Are there any recommendations on what would be the best machine control board. I'll be using Mach 3, a torch height controller, DM542T stepper drivers, touch-off height control on the Z and dual steppers on the X axis.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

It cost me $170 so I hope it's a genuine Mach 3 license.

General Mach Discussion / Question on Novum V2 BOB

If I'd known they were on the shame list I would have made another choice but I'm stuck now.

The question I have is with the USB interface what are the pin numbers for the outputs. Specifically I'm building a plasma torch and the M03 command will turn on the torch but I'm not really sure what output number to assign and what pin corresponds to that output.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for everyones help.

It was there just as described and seems to work just fine. I'll use it for a while and then probably post some comments or questions.

I just purchased the Newfangled Solutions add on and I'm not sure what's required.

I received a small license file via email with instructions to copy it to my Mach3 installation folder; that's not a problem. The question I have is, does it mean I already have the add on software as a part of my Mach3 installation? Is there a particular version of Mach3 that has it or has it always been a part of the installation?  If there is a particular version that is later than mine does that mean I have to upgrade to the newer version?

Any assistance would be appreciated.
