Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Mach4 Lathe Issues

In your tool table there is drop down column name is "Direction" you need to set all the tools you are using to Primary.  Some reason it defaults to the wrong selection when they are blank.

Any update on IMTS since it is in a week??
Newfangled Solutions going to have a booth, hopefully?
We will be there Wednesday and Thursday.

MachMotion will not have a booth there, but a few of us will be attending Monday - Wednesday.  There will be a few of our customers running our controls on different machines with Mach4 Industrial.  I'm not sure what the booth numbers are, but if you are interested let me know and I can find out.

If anyone would like to meet up please send me a email: andrew@machmotion.com

Check and make sure that pound var 3003 = 0.  G68 should not pause at all if 3003 is zero.  It should be processed at look ahead time.  I am nearly 100% sure that there will be no difference between a local sub and a external sub, from my testing mach loads all the subs when it loads the file.

It might be possible that your look ahead line count is too low.  Normally we run at about 25.

Close down Mach, goto the profile -> (Your profile name) and then open machine.ini.  Search this file for "Passwd".

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: MPG with Feed Hold SAFETY ISSUE
« on: June 14, 2017, 04:41:31 PM »
Craig,

I run mach4 all the time and I am surprised to hear about this issue.  I am curious if there could be cross talk going on that is sending a mcCntlCycleStart() command.  Could you open -> Diagnostics -> Logging and start the file running and then turn on Logging, then press FeedHold and then bump the MPG.  After you have a log of this issue please save it and upload it to this post so we can see what is happening.

Thanks,
Andrew

Craig,

Vital Systems is also offering a EtherCat option on some of their motion controllers.

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: G91 is not recognized in M4 Turn 4.2.0.3196

Andrew:

Thanks for this info.

So then, why does the status line in Mach4 Turn show G90?

I think that is a display issue...

Mach4 Turn is Fanuc style not Mach3 style...  U is the incremental axis for X and W is the incremental axis for Z.  If you command "G01 U1 Z1" the X will move out 1 inch from its current position and Z will move to part coord Z1.0.

You will also see that G99 is feed per rev and G98 is feed per min.

I attached the MachMotion lathe Gcode manual.. There should be one that also on the MachSupport website.

Thanks,
Andrew

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: arcs with a linear and rotational axis

We have done a few plasma pipe cutter in Mach3.  The best way to do it is use the attached Mcode to re-calibrate the Steps Per Unit so that the circumference of the pipe is 1 pipe turn.  You will need to edit the Mcode and put in the number of Steps per pipe rotation.  After you set this up you will need to re-run M500 everytime you change your pipe diameter. If you do it this way you can use normal X and Y gcode like you would on the table and it will work.

Working with the pipe like it is flat is the best way, all your feeds and speeds are normal.

You can rewrite this and do the same thing in Mach4.

Thanks,
Andrew

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: G66 Calls not working in Mach4?
« on: May 29, 2016, 08:21:16 AM »
I just tested it worked fine for me... I had to add a 2 lines to define #102 and #103, I'm not sure what you were doing with these.

Mach needs to be licensed for Industrial before it will run these files.

Thanks,
Andrew

PS. You need to rename the file O10003.txt to O10003 remove the file extension.
