« on: July 12, 2010, 03:08:11 AM »
Hello everyone,

Recently the computer died that ran my Super X3 using Mach3 controller...

Swapped computers... loaded Mach3 and Lazycam again... everything seems to be moving fine... EXCEPT... my old programs run in reverse...
Might be OK but Z + is going down.. so that would be a problem...

Is there some config / function config that i have to change???

I'm having difficulties locating something that will help...

Any help is very grateful

Thanks

The part is being cut on a milling machine... so i was using the mill...

In the lazycam manual is shows where the offset instruction is to

"select a chain and press the offset button, this will offset (kerf) the boundary to the distance.... yada yada yada..

Problem is it shows the little box that is on the left of the lazycam offset screen with a create offset button....

When i click the offset button i have

Pro demo. No GCode

button... on the offset and the same in the pockets tab....

the version of lazycam is version 3.00.2

Is this something wrong with that version?

Do i have to download something else?

LazyCam (Beta) / Cutting outside profile
« on: March 02, 2010, 01:47:37 PM »
Hello,

I have drawn up a .dxf file...

Opened it in lazycam... it shows the profile and puts a rectangle around it...

I choose a tool... make sure everything is set... set it to "outside" cutting... but when it posts the g-code it basically cuts on the line.....

How do you make it cut outside the profile....??????

Do i have to draw a rectangle around the part and then in lazycam remove one complete entity?

Or do i have to draw the item larger as if i'm imagining the cutter toolpath with offset in mind?

Hope you can help

LazyCam (Beta) / Re: Lazycam centering of work for engraving

Yeah..... For me, Left mouse button on the origin moves it around... find the center easy... should try that on my next drawing...

THank you..

Hello,

The manual doesn't really give me a step by step solution to the problem.... But i worked out that by drawing a line in the cad program that ends in the center of the work then i can use Lazycam and find that center.... reset the origin.. actually i can't remember the command... but it's second or third down on the right side of lazycam....  it opens a box which i type in the new x and y origin then centers it....
I then send the cam to Mach3... close the program and open notepad... edit the program so that it cuts that line above the part...

It does reference all the engraving from the new center... so it works... it takes a few minutes but once i've done it.. it's always done.... so i'm prepared to do it this way...

Cheers

LazyCam (Beta) / Lazycam centering of work for engraving
« on: November 26, 2009, 12:30:08 AM »
Hello,

I am to use Lazycam mainly for engraving. I draw a .dxf file.. open in lazycam. It sets the origin to the bottom left hand corner.
Now say for instance that most of my items are round... i want to have the origin in the center of the engraving, so i can center the work......

Thinking of doing a line or cross in the center of the drawing, so i can set a different layer, say 1mm above, then stop the program at the appropriate point and centre the work on the machine.....

Anyone know how i can make the origin of the workpiece from Lazycam not on the bottom corner but in the middle?

Every engraving would be different..... there are 50 or so different engravings...

Any help would be appreciated.
I am going to read the lazycam manual again..

Cheers

Ian
