Yeah.. Totally... The TrajectoryPlanner needs to be improved. There are deceleration violations. If only Brian and Art were working together still...  they lost interest; The market changed. I have to say at this point in time... either go to Linux cnc which has a nice TP now..  Which is a pain in the arse too... Linux is too much trouble to learn if you come from zero knowledge .. and supporting it also is much harder....   Just try to find a computer that will install linux in a hurry...  try to run all your programs in linux... good luck.

I still didn't give up in mach4.. I am constantly checking the development.. and asking Brian... and getting not many answers.

One thing is for sure... give mach4 a good TP and good mill functionality...  I will hang on to PCs for ever.. they are fun.

Francisco,

That is how the plugin works right now!  If you enable debug file logging, you will see LOTS of LI commands.  It will be no different for Mach 4.

But on other posts/threads you say that the galil gets sent the motion commands that were already profiled by mach. So I am imagining that the galil receives not only position but also time. Would that be correct?

Art, could I design a totally unorthodox tool like a disk (imagine a sawblade) with a semicircular rim radius? and have the centre of the disk to be the point anchored to the toolpath lines? So imagine a disk cutting with its faces back and forth.  This is for foam cutter machine. Maybe I could design the  disk as a solid and import it into the program? And how about we also define the stock accurately, lets say if you could also open a solid (stl, step, obj or some other solid file).

HI,
Make sure you enabled the ESS  under Configure > Select Motion Dev

Make sure your Ethernet cable is sound.


I had both these situations happen and mach4 was crashing...  after I checked both.. connection to the ESS was a breeze.

MM.. looks like maybe I had a bad patch cable..  I swapped to another and it connected first go.

Will keep testing.

The responsiveness is great, just perfect. Push pause and you get a pause.

Still the trajectory planner can be improved, but M4 seems on the right track.

HI,
Mach4 is crashing on me while I am trying to configure the ESS. I am doing as greg wrote on the downloads page on his website.

Im running windows XP with decent hardware. No firewalls/antivirus active. No internet connection.

0. Assigned a static IP address at 10.9.9.1 and Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
1. Placed the 2 plugin files on the plugin folder
2. Upon starting up mach4 I dont get the dialog box asking about the ESS.. So, I conclude that mach didn't see the ESS board.  Vague instructions... should the ess board be powered up and cat5 cable connected? Id assume so.
3. There are no dialogs poping up asking me about the ESS.
4. I go into the Configure menu>Select Motion Device>uncheck simulation and check ESS and OK out of it.
5. I go into Configure>Plugins set the given static IP, and hit ok and m4 crashes.

I will keep trying, just want to bring the attention to people that the interface is not polished and that there are hicups, definitely not fool proof.. Also I get M4 doing other weird stuff, but I suppose it is being worked on and should be much
better in a year or two..

M4 doesn't like the name of this file...  I get some nag screen and plus a nasty bug aferward... Filechooser looking all crippled... and some other esoteric manure

.dnc file wont upload...

the name of the file is: ff031 510 Gabriel Pedro Gonçalves_top.dnc

I think that the "ç" creates the issue...

HI,

One thing I'd like to see is extended CV settings.. So we could reallly fine tune the CV. I know there is quite a lot more that can be configured than mach3 lets us..

Also, please make sure that the Acceleration and deceleration during G1 are symmetric and not asymmetric like mach3. Perhaps if need be give the choice. I am all for a more configurable software... I don't care if it gets a bit techy. There are ways to hide the techy stuff.. perhaps gray out options.. warning messages....
