Modbus / Re: Modbus spindle stops, Mach3 keeps running
« on: January 29, 2010, 07:52:22 PM »
Update-  Its fixed.  I tryed 2 Hexin HXSP-2108G usb to RS485 converters.  For some reason the usb to modbus converter would stop talking to Mach.  I then picked up a Rs232 to 485 convert made by OKI.  Problem solved.

Thanks, Kris

Modbus / Modbus spindle stops, Mach3 keeps running
« on: January 26, 2010, 07:56:43 AM »
I have a serial plug-in Modbus.  When I run any code the spindle will stop at random times and the code keeps running.  No alarms present on the VFD.  Its as of Mach stops talking to the Modbus.  The spindle Rpm is still at the set speed and spindle button still flashes.  When I stop it at this point Mach seems to be OK.  I can still jog each axis, but if I try to use the menu drop downs to go to the serial Modbus plug-in Mach crashes.  95% of the time It crashes hard.  Mach then trys to send the mem dump to Microsoft.  The computer will not restart normally, and the computer can only be restarted via holding in the power button.  5% of the time Mach will not crash If I e-stop the program and exit the program.  Starting up Mach3 again restores modbus spindle control.  This is only temporary till it crashes again.

Current setup-
Start 10-27-09 -present
Core 2 Duo - 2 gig of ram - onboard video - 2 parallel ports, one on board the other PCI add on.
OS Windows XP

ELO Serial touch screen monitor
USB NIC
Hexin HXSP-2108G usb to RS485 converter
VFD is a Hitachi Sj200 2HP
Kernel 35k
3 axis servo system

So far I have tryed -
Mach3  Ver .029-.036
3 clean installs of Win XP
2 New mother boards Asus and the current Biostar
2 Ram vender's PYN and Patroit
Setting VFD com speeds to 19200, 9600, 4800bps
Kernel 25k,35k
Re-installing countless driver versions of hexin usb drivers

This week a new usb to rs485 converter will arrive.  I don't think this will fix the issue.  I need some help.  Please ask questions if you need more info to help solve this issue I'm having.  XML posted.

Thanks, Kris
