General Mach Discussion / Re: Jogging Z axis while machine is cutting
« on: March 18, 2010, 12:14:46 PM »
I also would like to see a screen button assigned to jogging ANY axis while cutting (adjusting axis position during the job) and an option available to either remember the position or return to original coordinates when the job is finished. My old Fadal mill even has this feature.
Mach is being used to control other machines than standard lathes and mills and thus should have some more advanced configuration available. In Mach, there is a lot of emphasis on safety, but it seems to me that it is the responsibility of the machine integrator to ensure a safe configuration.
Configuring Mach becomes confusing when certain pre-conceptions are assumed by Mach (hard coded) when configuring it (like Z-axis always being the vertical axis on plasma machines-THC).
If an assumption can be implemented on any axis or feature, configuration of Mach would become easier and more clear.

Thank you for a strong controller.

Mach Screens / Question: Some minor GUI irregularities or quirks
« on: March 20, 2009, 12:39:20 AM »
I'm new, but have dealt with other customizable CNC controller interfaces and I have a few questions:

- Using the Screen4 designer I cannot get the DRO text to center with a border. It looks like the edge of the numbers are cut off (sitting right on the DRO box bottom), is there a way to control text height?
- The DRO has a shadow even when the color is the same as the background, any way to get rid of that (to make the readout flat)?
- Is it possible to eliminate some of all the top menu (pull-down) options, or to completely remove the top menu (hide it)?
- I assume the .\mach3\splash.bmp can be changed to be whatever we want (will try that), can it be an animated GIF or BMP as well?
- Can transparent images be utilized to make "Vista-like" effects on the screens?
- Can the whole GUI be border-less or theater-mode for us to design everything on the GUI?
- Can a button be made to exit the program (I would guess YES)?
- Any way to change Mach3 screenSET fonts with the Screen4 designer?

Thank you all for a great user experience and strong CNC controller.
