I was engraving and after doing several peices I started getting errors,
the first is: scripter compile error.in:

the next is : error on line: 252-type mismatch.

and finally: no shuttle of type selected

I have rebooted the system and still can't get the wizzard to function properly, when you enter text and hit the write button it will not write the code to mach3,

General Mach Discussion / program for generating text as a dxf
« on: September 09, 2009, 08:00:43 PM »
I am using mach3 on a mini mill to engrave, we have been using the text wizard, but it is not really adequate for our needs. I have gotten a copy of D2NC to use the 4th axis to engrave tubes and ned a program to make text into dxf files. I have autosketch but it doesn't work, is ther some simple inexpensive program for making text dxf files?

I'll take Old English scrolling with a nice pheasant hunting scene on the shotgun rerciever.
Happy you got it working.

Sorry, we don't do shot guns, here is what we do:

Try slowing the Z axis down in motor tuning, it could be that you are loosing steps on the rapid moves, increase the acceleration time so the motor has more time to get up to speed.

Thanks for the help, I slowed down the axis and increased the pulse width and that seems to have solved the problem.

We have a tiag mini mill with a gecko g540 controler and mach3 software, we finally got it working and have solved several problems and finally tried to do some engraving today. we are cutting some letters in wood and noticed that the depth of the letters is not consistant, we lose several thousandths every time it goes to the next letter, about .007" per time. the x & y axis do not seem to have this problem. the dro reads the proper depth, but the motor does not repeat. any suggestions? we will be using this to engrave lettering on guns and the letters will be small and only about .005" deep, so it needs to be fairly accurate.

yes, we have done all the pin assignments and other setup configurations

We purchased a mini mill with a gecko g540 controler and mach3 software from a vendor called deepgroove1, we intend to use the machine for engraving. the problem is we can't get it going and the vemndor has not been really helpfull.
we started with a new pc we built with a pci parallel port card, running xp por at thei point after trying a number of different settings etc, we can't get the motors to run.
when the controler is on the motors lock up and the green light on the controler is on. the software seems to be working, in the jog control when the buttons are pushed the dro's work. but the motors don't move.

I am also unable to find the port address for the parallel port and to see how it is set, ie ecp, epp. when you check the port in settings in the seystem information it shows the port, but the information windoe is blank.

after getting nowhere with this we installed the software on an old pc with built in parallel port running win2000 and set the parallel port configuration and loaded the gecko file . but with this setup the dro's don't change and the lights on the port status are all off. we have checked all the configuration settings and all seems correct.

anyone have any suggestions what to try?
