General Mach Discussion / Re: 'y' and 'z' axis working together?!?!
« on: January 31, 2009, 03:28:46 PM »
Hood:
sure the settings were wrong,as I told I have experienced some difficulty on understanding the words(Portuguese native!) but...
 ;D
so easy I could not believe!.
first go to settings f6.
go to axis calibration (as showed in pic)
give a value in mm of how much do you want the axis to move.
give the real measure it moved ...voilá!

It seems the mistake was I had checked max nc10 wave drive box.
and I made it like the figure below
but still I have the problem with the measures.
my actual size of table is 900 x 750 mm,but mach 3 shows 160 x120 mm???
any ideas how to fix it??
An example:
I ask the "z' axis to move in 1 MM,and it goes down 1 mm in the screen, but actually it goes about 3 mm!!
tools broke everytime!

Success at last!
I've checked out  the output pins and find out that my configuration was mismatched.
after that the machine worked fine.
Thanks to all of you.
I've got just 3 more questions:
1.how to jog the 'z' axis??
2.how to enlarge the model in the view window??
3. how to set the measures in the axis to fit the real dimension of my table??(I've got a 900 mm table, but mach3 shows a 500 mm??)

Thanks Chip and jimpinder.
I,m using unipolar 15 kgf stepper motors.
each motor has it's own card.they are connected in lpt1.
in my motor outputs I have this:
x-2,3
y-4,5
z-6,7
all direction& step low active are checked, and all ports are '1'.
I've tried uncheking all too,and nothing.
I've tried to change the cards and the sequence but the problem continues.

General Mach Discussion / 'y' and 'z' axis working together?!?!

Well I've build my own cnc.I think it has been a fine job, I used ball screws, linear guides from nsk, motors with 15 kgf.
My control works fine at even 7 amperes.
The problem is:
I open mach3, load the g-code that I built just for test,it moves the 3 axis one at a time.
when 'x' works it works very fine, smooth, fast and efficient
when 'y' works it won't work, just whistles (very high frequency noise) and gives some 'cracks" but no movement.
when 'z' woks it works as fine as 'x',but (for my despair) the 'y' works together with it!!.
I've tried everything, but something is still missing.
Please remember I'm not an English speaking person,my native language is Portuguese,so I apologize for some mistake in advance!.
Can someone help me find out what it could be??

I´m Odinson from Brazil and I've builted my own cnc.
I'm 46. I've got an engineering degree on Radio frequency heaters.
I've build my cnc to make the cliché that will be used on them.
It´s a pity that the mach is not translated to portuguese.
