General Mach Discussion / Newbee Keyboard problem
« on: January 15, 2012, 04:02:26 PM »
Hello,
I am just setting up the axis going through the general configuration instructions when I noticed that my right arrow key will not jog the "X" axis in the plus direction, no movement at all. The right arrow key does work in other programs such as notepad or word Etc.
If I press tab and bring up the MACH MPG and pick on the X+ arrow the X axis does move in the + direction.  I went into the "homes & limits" dialog box to see if I would have by mistake assigned  the X+ to some other key. I didn't see anything other than default settings there? So just to test the button in the MACH program I picked in the box for a custom key, when I pressed the right arrow key a number was displayed, I sorry I am not in front of my machine I don't remember that exact number but my point is that when I pressed the right arrow key the MACH program saw the button being pressed, I put the X+ key assignment back to default then.
Can anyone help me to understand what I may have done and how to fix it?
Thanks

General Mach Discussion / Re: Diagnostics screen

Thanks for the reply, I will look closer at the LED's below the rows of squares and see if they change state, I am surprised that I wouldn't have seen them already? I was expecting to see them light as they did in one of the video's?

General Mach Discussion / Diagnostics screen
« on: January 03, 2012, 07:44:06 PM »
Hello,
This is only my second post, I am completely new to MACH software. Just a quick question? I have just begun testing my limits and I was wondering if anyone could clear up some confusion.
There is a group of 24 black squares that turn to green that are to show when I touch my limits are closed or open. Can anyone clarify the order or the layout of these LED's?
For example: and I am I'm sorry I don't know the exact order or position on the top row of LED's that light up, I am not able to look at them at the moment, but anyway starting from left to right on the top row are these LED's directly tied to the 25 pin serial plug on the BOB, and if they are what is the numbering order of the pins ? I am asking because I have my estop wired to pin 10, and my limits wired to 11, 12, & 13. and they do change the state of the LED's when the switches change state, but the position of the LED's does not seem to be consistant with the pin number?
Sorry for newbie questions, I cannot find documentation for the LED's on the MACH diagnostic sceen??

Hello,
My name is Dave I am new to the site, I live in the Hershey Pa. area, I am new to CNC. I have just finished converting a Grizzly G0704 to ballscrews and added stepper motors and started checking I/O. I do have manual machines to work with, hopefully the small mill running with MACH software will be a new direction in my shop. My Primary occupation is production machine automation and controls. My hobbies are riding motorcycle, mountain bike riding and building whatever I need from scratch. The CNC and MACH software is quite interesting to me and I am ready to dive in and get familiar with the software.
Looks like there are a lot of great and knowledgeable  people here on the site!
