General Mach Discussion / Controlling twin y-axis screws
« on: March 25, 2012, 01:04:09 PM »
Building a router to mill traces in PCB.  I have a gantry, which I have twin screws on the Y-axis.  One side is hooked to the Y-axis and the other side is hooked to the A-axis.  I am not quite sure how to sync these two axis to one axis command.  Can any one point me in the correct direction?  Thanks.

VMax549 and Scott,
I am new to Mach 3 but work with QB-6 and 2007.  I will not use the Esc key for any input or trapping.  The response time of the Macropump is not frequent enough to count the required RPM, I thought the Hallefects transistor was slow.  I did not know about the macropump and have many uses for it but will check out the specifications first.  I have received great help and quick response from all.
THANKS!

Ron,
The required RPM needed 300 to 600.  I need to find another way to program the coil winder.
Thanks

Hi,
I am writing an Cypress Enable Scripting application inside of Mach3 programming environment.

Have set up a user defined LED to sense a Halleffects transducer and used input#1 in the Mach-3 to indicate one pulse per revolution. While in an loop I will count the revolutions and accumulate. Does anyone know how to see input#1 in VB?

Does any one know of a way to trap (Esc) Key when pushed (chr$(27)) while in a loop in VB
Can not find an equivalent for Inkey which is an old way to trap key strokes.  Any ideas?

Thanks to all.

Mach Screens / Re: The Coil winder sceenset (wow)

Hi PeskyWinNet,
I also just review the Wire Winder screen you are talking about.  I have built a small wire winder with a Z axis to move the wire on the spool.  The spool will be driven by a 260 oz. stepper and using the spindle controls.  I found the wire winder screen which you are talking about to be more complex than I need.  I am using Mach3 and screen4.  I will be winding small coils up to 8" in diameter and 6" long.  Will be programming so that the spindle speed can be increased and decreased on the fly.  Will need to automatically change the X axis wire mover to coordinate with the spindle speed.  I am a new comer to CNC, Mach3, screen4, and all of the hardware.  This is my second CNC project first built a 3 axis router.  I am designing a VB6 application to get the coil parameters in and to generate the G-Code.

Have a couple of questions.  Where can you find documents on the DRO format strings and the different functions built in them?  Having some difficulty on using the spindle. I can get it to spin in both directions but not able to controll the speed with out stopping the spindle first.  Any one have any ideas here?
Thanks all
