General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach/Integration/Hardware
« on: January 18, 2015, 10:43:12 PM »
Hi, sorry to revive this again, but could Scott or Ducati share the info with me too?  I am itching to convert my MX2 to Mach3.  It is so slow and flaky. I would love to hear the info so I don't have to start from scratch.   Thanks!

Feature Requests / Re: Trying to control a SCARA Robot
« on: June 07, 2009, 07:33:18 AM »
Just set up the steps per unit in motor control to equal one degree.   Then you can have xyza all in "degrees"

Works great on my robot.

This would be perfect for my 6 axis robot project!  I even have a bunch of space balls handy. Id love this feature.

Should have quoted the post in this thread I was referring too. Yes, stick with the trunnion type, its common and easy to modify a generic post!

Might want to consider what your post processing capabilities are before you design your machine.  The expense of writing a post for a weird setup will end up eating up time and money.

You will need to search for "Robotmaster Mastercam"  In you tube. Sorry.

Here is a great sample of what we are planing on doing.

Im going to start by drawing something flat, then maybe drawing  the continents on a clear fishbowl.  or maybe I will use a laser pointer attached to the end.

In case anyone is wondering it was printed on  these three machines:

Fortus 400 MC (the white part is too large for the other printers)  http://www.fortus.com/Fortus400mc.aspx
Dimension SST  http://www.dimensionprinting.com/3d-printers/3d-printing-sst.aspx

Robots are really cool.  Look up "Mastercam Robotmaster" on youtube and you will see some awesome programming. I will get some videos up in the upcoming weeks when we have the robot simulator and post processor set up in Robotmaster.

The robot finally came alive yesterday.  It was mostly printed on Dimension 3D FDM printers, I only machined 3 simple parts - hex couplings that bolt to the 30:1 gear reductions.

video will be posted soon.

It's very frustrating trying to find a card that works.  I suggest starting a card database, so people don't waste their time.  I really don't know where to even get a so called legacy card, all cards sold today are modern multifunction I/0 cards (you install the driver, then it installs a second or third driver.).  Even though you claim they wont work, there is conflicting evidence that many do., such as my ITE 887x chipset generic card.
