Art,

Installed 2.56.1 and ran my old jobs, they all ran OK.  Generated a wild test program for CV and it also worked fine.
As far as I'm concerned everything is working correctly again.

Tom

Brian,
To go along with the drawing Ian provided on 9/28/07, I'm attaching a sample tap file that demonstrates the failure.

It's a sine wave that shows how CV drops out when angles are in a [CCW] direction.
Running at 70 ipm you see the speed moving right along during the first half of the wave, chord angles are [CW] and CV is working.
Now in the second half of the wave the chord angles are [CCW] and it slows way down, CV has dropped out.

In Config/General Logic Config:
    CV Dist Tolerance = 0.01
Stop CV on angles > 35 Degrees

Hope this will be useful to you.
Regards,
Tom

Ian,

Your quite right that the CV works on CW angles but not on CCW angles.  I did the same tests that you performed in your post of 9/28/07 which answers my questions.  I have dropped back to version 2.42 which does not have the problem.  Most of the routing I do is in a CCW direction so I can't use the latest code until this if fixed.  Maybe Brian or Art will hear us and give a progress report.

Coog,

Glad to hear you were able to get your numbers.

Coog,

I think what you are looking for is on the (Settings Tab) screen.
Right above the Reset Button on this screen you'll find (AXIS CALIBRATION - STEPS PER UNIT).
That will guide you.

OK, I'm back in business.

For a guy that reads the Yahoo and Online Forum daily I sure skimmed over the answer to this.
I turned off (Stop CV on angles >) which smoothed out my run again.  For some reason I felt uncomfortable turning this off.

To verify sharp angles were not being rounded I installed my plotting attachment and ran a test object with sharp angles and long splines.
Ran this plot over itself 5 times with no deviation and all 90 deg corners looked square (used a magnifying glass).
Plot was run at 50 ipm so routing at 35 ipm should be fine.

Thanks TP and Stirling for your advice.  I'm afraid I was asleep at the keyboard on this one.

Regards,
Tom

Thanks for the information guys.

I'll install the latest codes then start tweaking the CV and see if I can get it to smooth out.
Will reply with my results but may be a little later, working a contest this weekend.

Brian,

Noticed that CV has changed in one of the last few releases.
My CV was running smooth thru Rel 2.42 then I noticed it started acting like it was in Exact Stop mode.

Sorry I didn't catch it until Rel 2.48 so don't know which release between these 2 started the problem.
I've reinstalled the older release and it works fine.  I'm guessing a modification around the first part of September is where it started.

I've been running steppers on my router without any problems for the past 2 years.
Let me know if you need more information.

Thanks,
Tom
