Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Faind Z
« on: August 02, 2021, 11:25:48 PM »
Hi Toshio,

As you told me, you posted your question here and on the Warp9Tech forum as well. Here I found a solution to your problem.

First, for input X203, you need to set port 2 and pin 3 for the probe signal.
Second, for input connection, you don't need to add extra electronics components.

Thanks,

Promote and discuss your product / MB3 the third generation
« on: April 27, 2019, 08:56:16 PM »
Here is the new third generation of MB series board. The MB3, it keeps the best features of its predecessors MB1 and MB2 and in addition, allows all isolated inputs be used in both NPN or PNP mode and also to operate with either 5V or 24V. In this new design, the ESS board can be directly plugged into the MB3 without using ribbon cables. This makes the ESS easier to install and reduces the distance the signals must travel. It eliminates a number of contact points, as well as inductance and resistance between the ESS and MB3 board.
  • Runs on Mach3 / Mach4 with Windows XP, Win7, Win8 and Windows10 both 32 and 64 bit, on both desktop and notebook computers.
  • New! “AnaSpeed2” is a 0-10V precise analog output circuit has been implemented. This small circuit island is electrically isolated from the rest of the board, but it forms itself as part of the VFD input circuit which receives PWM signal from ESS by using light. It also has onboard isolated 12V DC2DC module which able to supply 0-10V to VFD continuously.
  • New! 18 Universal isolated fast inputs on port 1 and 2. They can be used as NPN and PNP inputs, also able to handle both 5V and 24V. These inputs can detect an index signal of the spinning motor at  862,200 rpm*
  • New! 5 Universal isolated super-fast inputs on port 3. They can be used as NPN and PNP inputs, also able to handle both 5V and 24V. These inputs can detect an index signal of the spinning motor at  1,710,000 rpm*

For MPG with line driver output. You can interface it thru PNP inputs.
The 470 ohm chip resistors are needed to make 24v voltage level to 5v.

In the video telling about removing filter capacitor because signal from encoder (mounted on spindle) is much faster. For manual MPG, we don't need to remove those capacitors.

The MB2 breakout board from CNCRoom is a good alternative also.

http://www.cncroom.com/break-out-board/smooth-stepper

MachBob2 (MB2) is designed for industrial application and specifically to work with the Ethernet
Smooth Stepper (ESS) which is an excellent motion control board designed to be used with Mach3
and Mach4

Here are some of the good features.

 - New! Utilizes all three ports from the ESS.
 - New! Accept frequency up to 4 MHz.
 - New! Differential line driver for motion signals enables longer wiring with more resistance to
interference when compared to TTL open end.
 - New! A single 24Vdc Power Supply is needed. There is a 5Vdc isolated and non‐isolated dc2dc
converter on board, thus saving installation space and wiring.
 - New! OSSD (Output Signal Switching Device) outputs and safety circuit are implemented when a
peripheral device such as a servo motor drive or a spindle VFD trigger an alarm condition, which
causes the Safety Circuit to disengage the OSSD output. This method is used in large CNC machines
to cut power from the drives.
 - New! LED status for all inputs and outputs including motion control signals. This makes it much
easier to diagnose and trouble shoot.
 - New! Polarity and over voltage protection (in conjunction with a fuse) for the 24Vdc power supply.
 - An “AnaSpeed” circuit has been implemented. This circuit is totally isolated from the MB2 and forms
a part of the VFD inverter, acting as a digital VR. High voltage noise from the inverter
cannot cause interfere through this connection.
 - A Charge‐Pump signal is provided. This helps the user to form a safety interlock condition among
   controller and devices.
 - 22 isolated input terminals, consisting of 17 terminals of NPN and 5 terminals of PNP type.
 - 14 NPN isolated output terminals capable of sinking current up to 100mA for each channel and up to
   500mA per group.
 - New! MB2v1.5, 2 onboard relays with both NO / NC contacts and “Off Delay Time”, which can be
used for “Z Drop Protection” application. (MB2v1.3 does not have this feature)

The time has gone by, here is a new product for your need.

The MB2 is an Industrial environment BOB, featuring: 6 Axis Line driver; I/O that utilizes all 3 ports of the ESS; OSSD safety output; Status LEDs for all signals; Requires a single 24V power supply.
Specification and Features:

-With ESS, Ethernet connection helps controller and drives located away from PC and has more noise resistant than USB and parallel port connection.
-Run on Mach3 / Mach4 with Windows XP, Win7, Win8 both 32 and 64 bit, on both desktop and notebook computers.
-New! Utilizes All 3 ports of ESS.
-New! Motion command signal can be selected between Pulse/Sign, CW/CCW, Quadrature. Frequency can be selected from 32 KHz to 4 MHz.
-New! Differential line driver for motion signals, makes a longer wiring with more resistant to interference when comparing to TTL open end.
-New! Single 24Vdc Power supply is needed. On the board consist of  5Vdc isolate and non-isolate dc2dc converter, thus saving installation space and wiring.

PoKeys / Re: Pokey57CNC and Pendant
« on: April 17, 2016, 01:26:29 PM »
Hi Ron,

I have developed a BOB for Pokeys57E call PoBob for local Thailand Market. It may be fit for a your application because it provides 5V, also handle I/O at 24V level.
I can send you a free PoBob (without Pokeys57E) to you. It is free because I'm a big fan of yours. Please PM me your address.

Here is the link to product.

You may need  to use google translation to convert all information including manual to English. However, I  can translate few important pages for you if you need it.

PoKeys / PoKeys57E with real working machine
« on: May 17, 2015, 12:51:30 PM »
The video shows devices, messy electrical wiring and brass machining. Drive system gets step/dir signals from parallel port, But others input output rely on PoKeys57E with Pobob.
The customer chose to use PWM analog from PoKeys57E/PoBob rather cheap BOB  because it gives better analog signal .

PoKeys57E/PoBob, This duo can do almost everything except catching index pulse for threading.
