Galil / Homeing Master/Slave with Mach4 and Galil DMC 2163
« on: April 20, 2017, 10:31:56 PM »
Hello,

I am finishing up a rather large router with the above setup and I am having an issue with homing the master/slave axis.  I only have a home/limit switch on the master axis and it looks as though as though Mach4 4 is trying to home both master and slave.  I have unchecked the "perform axis squaring", and I have the master/slave set up in Galil Suite and in Mach4.  Any ideas what I am doing wrong here?

Thanks for any help,
Andre

Mach4 General Discussion / Mach4 ESS Probing Problems
« on: March 23, 2017, 02:32:19 AM »
Hello,

I just started with Mach4 and the ESS board.  Everything seems to be working ok but I'm having a problem with the Lua scripts and probing.  I have tried many of the probing scripts on this site and got most of them to run under debug, but if I assign a script to a button, nothing happens. I'm sure it's something simple but it's giving me a run for my money.  I have watched all of the Daz tutorials and I have moved script files to different folders but nothing helps.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Andre

Thanks Allen,

I give it try.  I am also looking at noise issues.  The nice thing about Galilsuite is t hat you can view all the motors' status a the same time and it looks as though one of the axis is sending out so serious noise.

Galil / Master Slave setup
« on: October 12, 2015, 05:20:20 PM »
Hello,

I'm still trying to setup my Galil 2183 with Mach3 and I still have problems with the master slave working properly.  I was wondering if I am supposed to set up the gantry mode in Galilsuite and Mach3 or just in Mach3 alone.  The gantry system works fine when I and jogging the Y axis and the slave A axis.  When I try to run Gcode, the motors start to get out of sink and the a axis will be so far of the it trips a fault.  I have the setting all set the same for both axis in Maach3 and Galilsuite but everything I try seems to provide no remedy.  Using brushed DC servos with AMC drives and CUI capacitive  line driver encoders.  Any help would be appreciated so much.  I'm at the point of giving up.

Thanks,
Andre Barclay

Galil / Re: Connecting 24vdc relays to Galil DMC2183 controller

Thanks for your help.  I have the relays working now but I tried the same VFD setup you suggested and I fried the board.  I think I have a bad DMC since it has fried 4 times now.  I purchased another one off of eBay and I have not encountered any problems so far.

Galil / Re: Galil DMC1842 and soft limits in mach3

Hi Don,

I have not gotten that far with my setup yet but I did download Galilsuite and it has softlimits for all the axis.  I'm getting ready to try that phase of my project soon.  Let me know how it works for you.

Galil / GCode with Galil DMC 2163
« on: April 22, 2015, 01:31:11 PM »
Hi all,

I just got my servos up and running in both the Galil Suite and Mach3.  All motors move when instructed by the hot keys but I'm not getting any motion when I try to go to zero or when I try to calibrate the motors.  I must have missed something somewhere.  Any suggestions?

Thanks,

I'm kind of desperate at this point.

Galil / Connecting 24vdc relays to Galil DMC2183 controller
« on: March 05, 2015, 12:29:40 PM »
Hello,

I am moving along nicely with my Mach3-Galil project but I have a few more questions.

My main question now is I want Mach3 to instruct the Galil controller to activate an output and I want that output to turn on a 24vdc relay.  I have an external 24vdc power supply but I'm not sure how to wire it to the pins on the controller without frying everything.  Can someone point me to a schematic that shows this setup?  The relays are for turning on a vacuum pump and a dust collector.

My other problem is connecting a VF drive to control a spindle.  I basically need to send the drive an on/off command and control the speed.  Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for such a great forum.

Thanks Allen, that gets me started.  I'm still curious about what I would do if I were using ac drives that had an input for the encoders.  I'll call Galil and as them.  Thanks for your help.
