Thanks Rich, nice to have a manual, looks really good.

Is there a manual?

I'm returning from an long hiatus, I'm actually falling in love with LC all over again, simple milling.

Terms:

Under Posting Options, what is "Plunge Clearance"?

"LeadIn"?

what is "Overhang" when creating pockets?

Thanks, Curtis

I don't have the program in front of me but I seem to recall correcting this with a setting perhaps called "connection tolerance" I think it's under the "Extents" tab.  I believe it to be conflicts between how close the chains are and perhaps also the depth of cut and the tool per pass setting.  I posted my query if you want to search for it.

Edit:  I now see mine was an issue where I added tabs, it was generating ramps either into or out of the tabs.

Rick,
Sounds like you need to take a look at your tool parameters.  I don't have the program in front of me but from memory and similar experience that sounds like the problem.

I've set my tool table to include bits for cutting and tabbing.  For example the 0.125" depth per pass for cutting and 1.0" for tabbing.  I've been known to select the wrong tool and end up aborting when the tool plunges for the first pass.  The reason I have tabbing tools specified is because I couldn't get around LC respecting the 0.125" max depth per pass when generating a tab path.

LC in general has been a little disappointing for me, I purchased the license expecting a little more refining of the program.  That said, I'm just an occasional user and the only other generator I've used was ACE, if you've used that you'll know the advantages.  I think the license for LC is probably fairly priced I just feel the pitch led me to believe LC would continue to evolve.

Jerry,

Yep, best I can figure, CAD, multiple lines, like ruled paper.

Don't know about cylindrical machining.

For ordering the text I found success by clicking "Optimize" then was able to drag the chains around the project window into a sensible order.

Hello Willem,

Neither this example or the project I was trying to get coded were offsets, they were intended to be coded direct from the .dxf.

Figured it out....    I was getting the sawtooth tab action when my connection tolerance was to large, 0.125" in my case, depth per pass on that tool  was set for 0.125", might be a correlation there.

LC version 3.00.2 here too.

That comment in one of the videos about having a look at the connection tolerance if you get strange postings had always been on my mind, I thought I'd already explored that avenue, oh well.

Until next time,
Curtis

It may be something about a beta product or may be my lack of understanding... is this a lead in issue..  What is a lead in?

Then, tabs in LC and the results in Mach3.

Screen Hunter, nice tool.

O.K.,  the .dxf is just a rectangle.
