For something simple as that why would you need to go through Mach? Just wire your button to control the relay.

Mach Screens / Re: DRO's that count 0.01mm with 1024ppr encoder
« on: March 18, 2015, 02:28:57 AM »
1000 divided by 1024 does not produce an integer. My step size is 0.0048828125mm. Advance every step with this amount and see what happens.

(0.0048)828125
(0.0097)65625
(0.0146)484375
(0.0195)3125
And so on....

As i think about it the only way to fix this is to change encoders ppr. Will not happen anyways.

Mach Screens / DRO's that count 0.01mm with 1024ppr encoder
« on: March 17, 2015, 06:57:14 PM »
Hello all,

I am redesigning my screen set in order to be more simple, regarding the work I do. One of the things I wanted was to remove the 3rd digit off the DRO's that shows thousands of mm's.

My problem originates from the encoders, being 1024ppr, so the calculation goes cyclic every now and then. I use my MPG at 0.01mm a step, and when I step with the DRO's formated at 2 digits after the dot I get jumps of 0.02mm every ~0.1mm or so, which is kind of annoying seeing that happen.

Is there any way to avoid this number rounding ? I know this happens when the thousands go from 4 to 5 every time.

Regards, Todor

My E-stop is hardware wired at 24V with relays, I cannot rely on any OS or software to do the thing.

Anyway, I am now using 2KW DIY spindle regulator off the 220V line, with IGBT output stage and hall effect feedback. I am planning on transferring its power stage to be controlled from Pokeys. My hall effect sensor outputs around 1KHz at max spindle speed /duty cycle around 20%x80%/.

What is the maximum frequency for a regular Pokeys input pin ?

I am still confused about the crossed lan cable configuration. Now, I am using only 4 pins for it (1,2,3,6), the other 4 will be +5V external power and hardware emergency stop button.

Is this going to be correct, I thought 8 pins were necessary only for gigabit LAN ? Will I benefit from using shielded lan cable, connected in one end only ?

PoKeys / A few question about Pokeys devices
« on: March 12, 2015, 04:16:42 PM »
Hello, first a big thanks for the nice product, I have a Pokeys 56E. I am still configuring it for my pendant here.

I have some questions though. Firstly what is the difference between the USB and the LAN version in terms of stability/speed of operation? My MACH3 system works without gliches so far, I want it to stay that way. I am planning to put 2 pokeys devices in future.
I see there is a newer device 57E, but what is the difference with the 56E ? Once I read the 57E is the same, but with more memory to handle the Poblocks schematics. Will there be updates for the 56E, or the device will be left as is eventually, replaced by the 57E ?

Another interesting thing, I haven't tried out yet. Can I use Pokeys as a standalone controller without the PC connection? Like in a car for example, handling various things, made in Poblocks.

Thanks !

PoKeys / Re: Pokeys55 Errors / Lags / Slow Reaction in Mach 3

Hi,

I think there was a fix for that, but I am not sure where I have read about it. Maybe a long time ago on the yahoo group. As far as I know this is not a PK problem, but more likely the combination between PK, windows, other software and certain version of MACH that does it.  So far I am configuring the PK56 and doesn't seem to have any problems of this kind, hopefully.

4 threads back seems to be the same question http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php/topic,18288.0.html

PoKeys / Re: New Pokeys 56 Modbus config with MACH
« on: May 15, 2011, 06:06:48 PM »
I figured it out. I take a signal from the modbus and make it "jog X - right" for example. Then I take the same signal, invert it and terminate it with a "JOG Off X" button.

So more or less I have done everything I need, it's time to put all the switches and pots in some enclosure and test it real world cutting.

Ok, new firmware installed, LEDs work OK. Has anyone done jogging in MACH3 with the PK? When I push a button it starts moving and it doesn't stop. I am sure this is something simple.
