LazyCam (Beta) / Re: Possible Lazy Cam Bug

I see what  you mean. Big difference in size. And the"e"'s are there. I will find cambam and try it. Would anyone know what limitations Lcam has? I have  3.00.2 and I have a license for mach3. The one thing I noticed different  in the one that Chip fixed for me to try,  is that the Lcam one i did never had an entity # over 49

Ben:
I transformed it 500% and it made no diffrence. I guess transforming is the same as exploding the drawing.

thanks for your time and help.

Chip:

I downloaded a viewer, and I clearly see the dang compleate "e" with it. If i reopen the  dfx file with corel it's there also.

 If I place just one really big e in the dfx file,the only program that I have that wont see the complete "e" is Lazy Cam !   I dont understand how that can be.   It's crazy.  I wonder if the font has some type of code that cam programs dont like.

Thanks for the input
Mike

Chip:

Thanks again for your help. At least I know it's not Lazy cam. What I don't understand ( not that I know much) is how it can drop that part of the "e" when I export the file but when I open the file with corel its there. Is there some other program I can view DFX files with ? Have you ever seen a program drop lines like this ?

Thanks

LazyCam (Beta) / Possible Lazy Cam Bug

I am new to CNC, Mach3 and LCAM. With lots of help from this forum I have things going. I am cutting signs to learn how everthing works. I laid out a sign in Coreldraw X4. exported it in a DFX file ( autocad 14 format, Corel skips autocad 12 for some reason). Loaded it into Lcam. The wording in the sign is " Robert Cowert" but in L-Cam  both "e" are missing the "-" so it looks closer to " Robcrt Cowcrt". They are not  "C"  the tails are almost touching so they are "e" without the horizontal bars.  What am I doing wrong? If you open the DFX file with Corel, everthing is fine.  Is this a bug in L-Cam or am i doing somthing wrong. I am attching both the DFX and Lcam files. Maybe one of you old hands can enlighten me.

Thanks in  advance.

I will give it a try. What  Autocad Version should I export it as? I have been defaulting it as Autocad 2007 Does one work better than the other with Lcam? I have down to Autocad R2.5

Yes The DFX took forever to load. I had nothing to reference it by so I had no idea how long a file takes to load. I placed a border around it and it looks like it will work just fine. If I delete the border by deleting the chain it resides in, then Lcam scales the project back down. I tried to move just this chain into its own layer so I could set the feed rate fast and the cutting depth to 0 so it could get no-where faster.  Lcam crashed. IT did not like moving this chain  to it's own layer for some reason. Do you know if I can do that?

Is there a better way to do sign type projects. Is there better and easy-er software to use other than Coreldraw to lay out stuff like this?  i am just horsing around trying to educate myself.  I figure if I cant make a sign there is no  way I can make anything else! Also the wife will be happier if she gets somthing out of the deal.

Thanks for all your help and more importantly your time.

 Thanks for the replys folks.

Chip, I found that option and tried it, same thing happens. Attched is the DFX file out of Coreldraw and the Lazycam file. I am sure one f you guys can point me in the right direction. These are the versions of software I am using: Mach3 R3.036, Lazycam R3.00.2 AND CorelDraw X4 V14.0.0.567

Thanks for the help and input !

I am VERY new to CNC mills, Mach3 R3.036,Lazycam R3.00.2 AND CorelDraw X4. I use each of these. I hope someone can direct me on what I am not doing quite right.
I have everthing going. I am using sign projects in wood  to learn with. Here is my problem.

 I lay out a  project  sized as X= 5.5" Y=10.0" with CorelDraw X4. The lettering and image to cut is centerd in this XY area so that i have an equal distance from all edges.  I save the progect as a DFX  file. I open it into lazycam and optimise the file, get the starting point set on X=0 Y=0. If I check the size it is imported asX=5.069" and Y=8.728". It seems that for whatever reason Lazycam only imported the  actual cutting image X Ymaximum refrenced to X=0 Y=0. it seems to have disregarded the actual laid out size of the overall project. If you cut the project with Mach 3 and the engraver tip refrenced to X=0 and Y=0, the project is cut left and bottom. It's not centered as I laid it out in Coreldraw.  Can one of you old hands  lead me into the right direction?

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your help !   I had found  the button, but did not realize it because you cant jog from that page! Thanks! I thought it just did not work.
When running the porgram i had gotten hung up on a limit switch and could not get off it without deacivating the limit switch. My setup is

x++ pin 10
x-  pin 11
x home pin 11

y++ pin 12
y- pin 13
y home pin 13

Z++  pin 15
Z-   none
Z Home pin 15

One other issue I am having is: I have soft limits .3" before the limit / home switchs. trying to stop the occasional false triger.  I had to turn off soft limits to get the thing to go to the limit/home switch . I thought  the software ignored  soft limits when it was told to refrence all home? What am I doing wrong?

On the" Index Debounce "what does it do, what should it be set at ?

I did watch the videos, the screen layouts were diffrent on the setting page- I  must have missed the limit overide button. Lots of stuff to learn. When you are 100% green you sure can miss a lot, even when you are looking at it.

Thanks for all your help,
